Weirdly bugs don't bother me past the initial "yuck" kneejerk response. Wild animals either since I know they're just going to run away 9/10 times.
The domestic ones scare me because they have more reason to bite scratch or kick me!
Horses scare me the most even though I rode them for 10...
I'm confident that one day we will find a match for Misfit, and that even if we don't he'll be happy with us still!
I'm going to guess that his best match will probably be either an extremely well socialized kitten who reads signals a little better or an older adult cat with a laid back...
Well, not the most positive update but I wanted to update everyone nonetheless: we will be bringing Jonesy back to the rescue, unfortunately. I spoke with them and my partner and we all feel that Jonesy would be happier paired with a kitten (and they have lots of those available!)
I took a step...
I also did the catnip/wool dryer ball thing and it was a hit I think! I put it in his safe room and when I looked at it later it was clear he'd been wrestling with it
Thank you! I'll check those out! Maybe I'll even get Misfit's nails trimmed for the first time ever 🤣 the only cat I've ever done a nail trim on was Julian but he was the most tolerant cat ever so he wasn't about to do anything about it, and he had issues with his claws getting caught on...
I wasn't sure where to post this so I'm posting it here; introducing our new cat has brought some fears to the surface that I didn't realize I had!
It turns out, I'm terrified of animals but I also love them!
Which is strange for me, I grew up with animals and always loved them. I'm definitely...
So my partner did a gate meeting earlier and this happened!
March 9, 2023
Jonesy still reaches as far as he can through the gate to Misfit with his claws out... And Misfit sits just out of reach. It's not a swatting motion... more of a reach and grab motion. We give treats periodically...
Just for anyone who might look this up later: it was totally cat acne. We started using a metal food bowl and keeping it fastidiously clean and eventually he groomed off the remaining gunk! We can use plastic food puzzles as long as they are thoroughly cleaned before use and picked up when he's...
Misfit takes a week or so to try new sleeping places unless I engineer them juuuust right.
Like, I stuck a super soft blankie he loves inside a Costco box and put it on top of the fridge and he JUST decided he likes it. I made it so that he had somewhere high up to get away from the baby and it...
Wow he is DRAMATICALLY sensitive to the yelping. My partner just tried it when he went for his ankle and he ran all the way back to the bathroom. Poor sensitive little guy.
I do think that once they're integrated I will have a no Jonesy in the room the baby is sleeping in rule until she's older. Right now she sleeps in our room but we're hoping to transition her to her own room when we move.
Until then, would it be better to have a "no cats in the bedroom during...
Had a funny interaction with Jonesy today... So I went into the bathroom to relieve myself about an hour ago and I always close him out to keep him from play attacking while I use the toilet. Well, this time he waited outside the bathroom in his play tunnel and went for my ankle as I left the...
Had a rough afternoon; came home and all was well at first but the baby and new kitty in the bathroom melted down at the same time and I couldn't handle the noise so put baby in her crib with some music and went into another room. Misfit joined me and we ended up hiding out together from the...
Living in Seattle we don't see a ton until late Spring/early Summer (at least that I notice). Our community garden always gets sunflowers in the summer and I love those! Black eyed susans too. I've actually been thinking of getting a forearm sleeve tattoo all the way around of black eyed susans...
Hi! I just wanted to chime in here because I had a cat who passed away at 4 years old from kidney disease. I felt awful about it for so long because I didn't know any of the signs and we and our vets didn't catch it until he was too sick and we had to let him go. It sucks to lose a cat so young...
It's definitely darker than his wet food but then again when it has time to dry out... It could be the same color. It's on both sides equally and closer to the corners. It's definitely crusty as some has come off. I'm wondering if when he threw up that hairball the saliva stuck to the fur around...
