    cat shock collars for protection

A shock collar won't stop a cat from going there. Heck, it rarely even works for dogs. If anything it will make them run off further. Have you considered simply fixing the fencing back there?

PLEASE HELP: On returning an adopted cat to the shelter (This is the absolute last thing I want to d

He definitely needs more time. It's not fair to give up so early on.  In the end the decision is yours, but here is what I suggest:  1) Warn the shelter. Tell the lady you are having issues with Otis's behaviour, that you are going to try to fix them and make him feel at him at home, but that...

What treatment best used to reduce anxiety?

Hi there! First of are you introducing the kittens to your resident cat step by step? If not, that's a recipe for disaster, even if they seem to be doing OK problems may arise in the future. As far as products are concerned, never heard of Bach Rescue Remedy, but I've seen Feliway (the difuser)...

Shunso is obsessively pulling out his fur!

Thanks for your reply! I will definitely look into it.  However if it were such an issue, how come cortisone treatments temporarily cure him? It's a bit odd. :(

    indoor/outdoor cat + bedroom meowing + fleas

As far as fleas go, you have to treat her against them. Yyou also have to treat her against internal parasites. I guarantee you that she has them. Ask your vet about it.  Here are a couple of concerns you might want to think about:  1) If she is spayed and friendly, this could be someone's...

New cat has WAY too much energy. Help"

I can see that this post is old... But just in case: Have you considered fostering another cat, see if that helps at all? I started doing so for my siamese Schrody who was in constant need for attention and play. ALWAYS. When he couldn't play with me or my dog he would yowl endlessly, despite...

    Friskies for Urinary Tract

Not sure where you have heard that, from what I know Friskies is usually the cause of  UTI, as it is poor quality food with by-products, and most importantly added salt. Wet food is better than dry always, so if you must go with Friskies go with wet, but I would advise against choosing this...

Shunso is obsessively pulling out his fur!

Shunso is at it again. He will suddenly sit down and pull out huge tufts of fur from his back, legs and thighs... This can go on for hours if I don't snap him out of it, but I'm not always home to do so. According to the shelter I got him from and his former foster home, this is not new...

    Questions about raw feeding kitten

The thyroid gland is at the base of the chicken neck. Just cut under it I guess? I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. I've never seen chicken necks sold on their own, I get the carcasses and cut or ask for the top half of the carcass only at the butcher's.

    Questions about raw feeding kitten

Hi there and congrats on transitionning to raw!  1. Yeah it can be hard to find places that will sell you portions just for 1 cat. When I had just 1 cat I could not feed raw for this reason, I only could when I got my dog as well. Now with 3 pets it makes it easier. If you can get your hands on...

    The process continues...

Woohoo congrats! Go slooooooow.  I tried to be a bit too quick with mixing raw to wet for Shunso (recently adopted) and he started rejecting raw all together, even the small portions he ate before. Had to go back to 100% wet for a month or so and start adding slowly again. So don't rush, hahaha!

Vote for your FIVE favorite pictures of cats with their mouths wide open - POM July 2015

Voted! Good luck everyone! I have to say Mouse is my fave.   Even though they are all adorable. By the way, noticed that in my original submission post I mispelled my cat's name, it's Shunso not Shuno. ;)

    Thinking of sheltering my cat

Have you tried removing the mat in front of the litter box?  As for the scratching, cats do scratch furniture sometimes. It's just a thing you have to accept. you can enourage scratching elsewhere by putting a cat tree or things to scratch near the couch.  To build a bond with your cat you...
