As posted above, definitely try to find a groomer to come out to your place. There are mobile groomers everywhere, but I don't know if they do this kind of thing. We have one of our outdoor cats shaved every summer & perhaps a groomer could do this.
I can relate. I remember when we got a new water heater a couple of years ago. Had such a battle with husband to turn up the thermostat. (Was too nervous to touch it myself inside the heater.) Yes, the water was hot, but it wasn't toasty! When I get in the shower I want the water so hot that I...
Americans don't pronounce banana strangely, but the way I pronounce it with my British accent now sounds very weird to me. Easier to avoid the word. I hate to admit it, but it's just easier to say "toMAYto" after all these years. Ditto "process" with the stress on the first syllable & numerous...
@micknsnicks2mom - thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I have never had a sports drink in my life, but it sounds like they are a benefit to you.

First, how can she call the police if she can't speak English? And what would the cops do anyway? Do you know of anyone who can translate for you?
Maybe ask her if she wants to have a coffee someplace? Desirez-vous un café avec moi?

It's not about anyone's ego. You have a plan to help the cats, but she's probably been feeding them for years. Can't you see that she feels threatened? It's really easy to learn a few French words on the Internet. Next time you go say Bonjour Madame. Comment ca va? (Hello Madame. How are you?)
The old lady is probably lonely & the cats fill a void in her life. You are going to have to find some middle ground with her. Maybe show her photos of the cats in their new homes or something like that? Lonely people who have little contact with others are difficult to get along with, I know.
Cats are very sensitive to noise. They hear sounds at a much higher level than we do. If you are yelling & screaming she definitely won't come near you.
