I have a large Van Ness covered box (smaller then the one featured above) and a Nature's Miracle covered corner box. I have 2 Siberians an 8lb 1yr old female and a 15lb 11month old male. She likes the nature's miracle box and he prefers the smaller van ness... go figure...
I think one of the key...
I'm so happy that Fred is doing better :D:yess:
My boy true to form peed in my bathroom sink when I got home from camp. I discovered it when I got up from my nap, then the next morning he did it again right in front of me (looking at me the entire time :redtongue:), then he was fine the rest of...
Hi I'm hoping that you can convince your husband not to loose hope yet. I too have a young cat who had struvite issues due to a bacteria that fed off of protein in his urine causing it to go alkaline. My vet told me to feed him Hills special c/d, I did that for the length of the bag with wet...
I had a similar issue with my male kitten when he was about 4 months old. His stools were like your kitten's firm at the start and liquidy soft serve at the end. He turned out to have struvite crystals caused by a bacteria in his bladder that converts protein in the urine to ammonia. I was...
I hope Basil is better soon. Have you been feeding him the Hill's c/d strictly? In my search for better diets I read that Hills is hard on the bladder and kidneys because it over acidifies the urine. Something to check with your vet.
I hope you find the answer soon.
I'm in a similar situation when it comes to a variety of foods available I live in northern Canada and in the largest community north of 60 so if it's not in town I have to try and find it online or drive or fly 1000-1500km to a major city.
In my search for better alternatives to Hill's or...
I'm sorry to hear about your poor kitten, I know how frustrating it can be when they are sick and aren't using the litter box.
My 5month old boy has been recently diagnosed with struvite crystals caused by a bacterial infection that uses protien in the urine and converts it to ammonia causing...
Thanks.
I have the same feeling about doing my boy's recovery justice by not giving him some of the prescription food. I have read the article that you suggested and have been adding extra water to the wet food. Just before I went into work i started feeding both cats freeze dried raw as well...
So it turns out he has a bacteria that produces urease and it also causes his colon to spasm. The vet has given him 2 doses of antibiotics. The vet still wants him on Hills or Rayne, though I have started to give him wet food with a Tbs or 2 of water mixed in as well as very well hydrated freeze...
A few weeks ago I had posted about my then 18 week old Siberian kitten having very soft to almost non-formed very smelly stools. Below is the link to the origional thread.
Kitten With Soft Smelly Stools
It turns out that he has a bacteria that produces urease and that is the likely culpret...
That is my thoughts on Hills as well. When I got him from the breeder he was on Royal Canin. A friend who does rescue with dogs had suggested that the food I was feeding him might be too rich (she’s run into the adjusting to a higher nutritional value issue before).
The vet gave my BF the...
Unfortunately I wasn’t at the the appointment this morning as I’m traveling to go visit a family member who’s been in the hospital after brain surgery. I got all the information second hand from my BF. Apparently it’s the high protein that aggravates the bacteria...??? And it’s the bacteria...
Ok so after a few days of trying to get a urine sample, the poor guy has a urinarytract infection. Apparently the root cause is bacteria in his tummy. This bacteria is reacting to the high protein in his diet (feeding him Orijin Cat and Kitten, weruva cats in the kitchen, and tiki cat). The...
I called the vet's office when it opend today and they want a urine sample first...???
Unfortunatly my BF works late nights and he wound up having to go to the emergency room himself because he's sick now too (tonsillitis and an eye infection). Now I have 2 sick guys at home and I'm stuck in...
So I just talked to my BF who's at home with the cats and my boy pooped in the bath tub again last night. So my BF quarentiended my boy in the spare room with a clean litter box when he went to work, and my boy pooped on the floor :( and the consistancy is getting more liquidy. I'm going to see...
Thanks for both of you replying. I only have 2 litter boxes (one regular large, and one huge one that fits both cats at the same time~and yes I've seen them both using it at the same time). He has an apointment on Dec 2 and I'll bring it up with the vet again. I'll also try adding a third litter...
Hi, I have a kitten who is now 18weeks (4.5months) who has very soft stools that start off with a "normal" well formed looking end and it transitions into a soft serve consistancy, and sometimes ends up looking like melted ice cream at the end (one step a way from pure liquid). His stools also...
