...I've been meaning to post this for a few days but I've been super busy and a wee bit exhausted. But, does anyone here have experience with epilepsy in their cats? I'd love to hear from others who have had to face this problem.

...affected by it? I presume his blood work includes a chemistry panel and a thyroid check? Did you say he has seen a specialist in neurology/epilepsy?
The thing is if there is an actual cause for the epilepsy, it may require some other treatment beside Pheno. The only way, as I understand it...

He had another episode what I suspect was epilepsy and cried out, then he was gone.....

...of any of this, or how long ago Michaleto was seen by the vet. You also don't mention if he has any certain condition(s) causing the epilepsy, and if he is on any medications for them, when he started meds and if there have had to be adjustments made from time to time.
Is his vet a...
I did a search for you and found these thread about cats with epilepsy. You are NOT the only cat owner with this issue. Hoping the medication keeps her seizures at bay and she lives and long and happy life! They are both little cuties
Idiopathic epilepsy seizures. Was diagnosed 2011 but no meds because it was 1 every 3 to 4 months. Then in 2019 I saw focal seizures, she got on meds in 2021 when she had 4 cluster seizures.
Even if I could see a specialist, I wouldn't be able to afford an MRI or cat scan.
@Michaleto’sMom Hello to another epi-kitty parent! We're dealing with idiopathic epilepsy for our kitten Paprika. It's definitely been a learning curve that we're still trying to figure out.
Could the change in behavior have to do with the fact that his medicine dose has changed? Maybe he's...
When I was younger, we had a cat with epilepsy. We just tried to make sure he was safe when the seizure would happen. We'd also make sure he had a calm space/environment to recover. The seizures can sometimes make them "off" for a bit afterwards and tired. I think he lived to be about 9 or 10...

Once you get past the diagnostics, you might want to consider joining up with one of the specialized online feline epilepsy support groups.......there is one on Facebook, with a 20+ year history and thousands of members.....lots of experience for you to draw from there...
...of whether or not Gracie has a neurological problem? Do you have video of her face when she goes into stalk mode? Could this be a form of epilepsy? I realize it isn't grand mal or petti mal, but perhaps focal seizure or something similar.
Our cat has focal epilepsy which for her means she...
Hi. IBD doesn’t always cause diarrhea. It can also cause constipation.
With what is going on with your cat and her Comorbidities, CKD, epilepsy, pancreatitis, she needs to see a specialist. Ask for a referral to a board certified veterinary internal medicine veterinarian asap and they should...
Thank you for replying. No he didn't have an ultrasound, is it something I should ask for? Yes he does have a heart murmur. He doesn't appear to be showing any signs of being sick other than the Epilepsy, which just started a month ago. :(

Hi. It this is truly epilepsy it should be controllable with the proper meds. But, the back leg issue needs to be further investigated. I would recommend you go to a specialty group that has a neurologist on staff that can, along with an internal med vet, better assess what is going on. This is...
In my case, the neurologist prescribed the phenobarbital after a visit that assessed the focal epilepsy.
A neurologist should know the side effects of the med. And they should also prescribe the right dosage of phenobarbital.
I believe it is necessary you find one.
