Thank you so much for the info!!
Are yours the tiny, round, orange-coated pills? I assumed since they were coated that they shouldn't be broken..?
His TT4 was 7.1μg when he was first tested several weeks ago.
He will only be on them for a couple more weeks because he is scheduled for...
Thanks!
The vet prescribed 5mg twice a day but I thought that was too much. The pills are coated and tiny so I don't think they're supposed to be cut in half.
I have a 12 y.o. male recently diagnosed Hyperthyroidism and a 7 y.o. petite female.
Main concern is keeping 12 y.o. from losing too much weight before scheduled Radioactive Iodine treatment in 4 weeks. (Giving him 5mg Felimazole 1/day)
Also, hoping to prevent Hyperthyroidism, I switched them...
If it's a wood or steel door, you can install a cat flap. I installed 2 many years ago... 1 on door between conditioned space and garage and another on the side garage door. This way they can come and go as they please.
I'm going to look into this more because I think 5mg pills BID are too much for my cat.. I think it has to do with the fact that they are coated. Thanks... will research further!

So, I finally started him on Felimazole but have to stop pills 2 weeks before treatment and get some blood...
Hi. I just started my Hyperthyroid 12 y.o. male on Felimazole 5mg 2x/day. His TT4 was 7.1.
Do you think that's too much?
He's scheduled for Radioactive Iodine Treatment but not for another 5 weeks or so.
I don't know if Felimazole can be cut. Plus they're tiny.
Thanks!
