Thank you everyone and my little Necco decided to cheer me up this morning by stepping on my cellphone and texting chicken to my mother , and this was after she had sent a good morning meme with a rooster making it all the funnier. Not sure if he was identifying her meme and quite proud of...
Though I should say for anyone else with a vegan carnivore the vet did suggest adding a bit of honey to his food, when we thought it was still just a uti and start of fatty liver.
Well it seems suggestions would not have worked, turned out that snowcap had a massive tumor that ruptured leading to massive anemia and liver failure. He lost his fight this morning. He was a very sweet boy and highly unusual cat with a love for all things sweet including his foods. He will...
Don’t still have one to take a picture of, but basically take sturdy cardboard or even a piece of wood about 2’ or longer in length. Then you can either cover it in sandpaper that’s of a similar grit to the Emory boards, or I find it’s cheaper to just buy a package of Emory boards from the...
With my boys I use regular human nail clippers to trim their nails, and occasionally a plain old Emory board if they’re really skittish. I show them me using it on myself, make sure it’s after a meal so they’re full and relaxed, sometimes even playing some classical music if I have a kitty whose...
Yeah for now definitely sticking with the ff, he’s enjoying it and getting some of the chicken so for now that will have to suffice, he goes back to the vet Monday might ask her for some suggestions.
Yeah, the larger issue for me is if he can’t see the veggies, and really get their distinctive scent and flavor he turns his nose up at the whole thing, and since cats are carnivores, most companies “hide” the veggies
So I have a rather bizarre carnivore in my home. He would much rather eat peas and carrots over chicken or beef or even fish (he really hates seafood). The issue on this is he now at age 9 has a uti and keeping him hydrated is becoming a bit of an issue and he’s getting the start of fatty liver...
Guessing it’s some dark chicken trauma from the past. After going to the vet today it was determined he’s allergic to fish . So our changing the flavor of purina one from the chicken formula to the salmon/tuna is what set off the vomit sessions.
I have had many, many cats over the years and have always fed them either Iiams or Purina one (when it came out) and all of them have lived well into their late teens/early 20’s with almost no health problems to speak of minus the odd tapeworm (live in flea county USA) the only ones I have lost...
In my household of 3, I can definitely see the aggression in the grooming when my one year olds go after my eight year old who never really partook in social grooming. Necco, one of the younger ones, will even growl and yowl at Snowcap in every way it will appear as though a huge cat fight of...
I have two rescue brothers, Spree and Necco. Necco is fine, but poor Spree is on a power puke phase. I do fully intend to bring him to the vet first thing in the morning, but was trying to get some fluids and a bit of protein back into him and he’s petrified of poached chicken! Like violently...
I have MS so my orange Snowcap has taken it upon himself to see that the hallways is clear every morning of trip hazards (minus himself ) and has now taught his two new brothers the same. What a sight to wake up every morning
Wow! I really wasn’t expecting quite so much of a debate going on lol. I honestly thought my one vet was being rather archaic in her thinking. She’s an amazing vet don’t get me wrong, I trust her with my animals and my cats actually love going to see her, actually purr and watch for her office...
Also, just wanted to add that bathing, for me, isn’t so much about having show quality cats or to make them smell like roses, just have found over the years that starting them young experiencing baths and keeping up with it a bit over their lives saves a great deal of scratches and freak outs if...
Tigers are actually big on swimming , as are Jaguars and several other wild cats... only ones I know of that don’t really like the water are lions and cheetahs.
I live in southeastern Georgia and fleas as well as ticks have always been a huge issue here. My cats also had reactions from the collars and topical leaving me with very few options on what I could use. Eucalyptus oil to the rescue (and not sprayed on the cat or dog) but all around the house...
I have always been in favor of giving my cats baths. Starting almost from the moment they enter my home so they can adapt as young as possible to the sensation of being wet. I also try various ways of ensuring their comfort, some of my cats have preferred being bathed in the sink with sprayer...
It does sound like the concentration of the smell is more from the cat staying inside then over not using her litterbox and making a statement about your leaving her. In addition to ensuring the cat sitters know they have to scoop EVERY day, I would still suggest taking her litterboxes outside...
Rather than steam cleaning it, I would suggest spraying it well with hydrogen peroxide wait about 5-10 minutes and hosing it off and let the whole thing dry outside in the sun. Would be the best way to disinfect it and refresh it, if still thinking it might need a bit more tlc vacuum it when dry...
