    Feral cat to inside cat

I have been communicating with Kwik. I am still having to keep Robbie separate from bully Newman. These guys are named for Paul Newman and Robert Redford! They should be friends!. Still project in process as I expect it to be for a while to come!

    Integrating feral with inside cats

Yes Newman is the bully and he bullies my very old female too. Robbie is m y timid but extremely lovable "feral". He still acts like a feral in some ways and is afraid of everyone but me. I can't pick him up but he loves pets and kisses.

I will get a harness and leash if that's what I need to do!

    Integrating feral with inside cats

Is lead training putting a harness and leash on the aggressive cat and putting the feral in a carrier? I can't pick up the feral. He is afraid to let me do that. In fact I have to trap him to take him to the vet. Also I tried a Feliway collar on the aggressive cat and he immediately got it off...

    Integrating feral with inside cats

I have been space swapping so that Newman and Tommy can be in a cooler part of the house during the hot summer day time hours. It was 113 yesterday and their room is small with the doggie door to the catio so they are better off in the bedroom that Robbie thinks is his safe area and where he is...

    Integrating feral with inside cats

I was on a cruise with my granddaughter and, while I was gone my daughter-i-law took care of the cats. I've had the aggressive, territorial one (Newman) with his buddy Tommy in one location and the feral Robbie and two females in another. I haven't really tried to integrate since Newman attacked...

Thank you so much as always for your positive attitude and guidance!!! I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have your help!

    Integrating feral with inside cats

I had the screen door installed where there was no door before, separating the bedroom from the closet and a small 5x7 room. Some cool air still gets in there through the screen door so it's still much cooler than the catio but not as cool as the bedroom because of the doggie door in there that...

    Integrating feral with inside cats

It is an enclosed former patio and does not have a duct to take A/C there but is open to the rest of the house and currently has a screen door to separate the cats and allow cool air to get to it. Some heat comes in from the doggie door also.

    Integrating feral with inside cats

Part of the reason I'm anxious to do the space swapping is because the cat room adjacent to the catio where Newman and Tommy are now is not as cool as the rest of the house and on April 21 it was 100 degrees outside.

    Integrating feral with inside cats

How long do you think I should do intensive scent swapping before space swapping? There will be scent swapping with the room swapping also as all scents will be in my bedroom since Group A will use it during the day and Group B will use it at night. That doesn't take care of the rest of the...

    Integrating feral with inside cats

There has been a lot of scent swapping all along as I have continuously swapped bedding but I will do more and I will use the sock petting too.

    Integrating feral with inside cats

I just wrote up very detailed space swapping instructions for myself. Because it is so hot in Arizona and the little cat room is not as cool as the rest of the house, Newman and Tommy will have the master bedroom, cat room, and catio during the day and Robbie, Sasha, and Malia will have it at...

    Integrating feral with inside cats

Also do I need to start with them not being able to see each other?

    Integrating feral with inside cats

Thank you so much! I will try that. Sadly it all has to wait because I will be gone for two weeks with my daughter taking care of the cats. I planned to leave Newman and Tommy in the cat room and catio and Robbie and the girls in the rest of the house until I get back and can start all over. But...

    Integrating feral with inside cats

I did the same thing with Robbie that I did with the previous feral and she integrated nicely after being confined for about 2 months with a screen door so they could see and smell each other but obviously that was too soon with Robbie.
