I agree... This is personality of the individual cat and could be challenging to get all in one cat. There are always outliers for any generalities about breeds too so it doesn't guarantee the cat will be that way. I do think that maybe a kitten would be best, so you can try to desensitize them...
8 weeks or 2 lbs is often when shelters will do it because people like adopting little kittens and they have to be S/N before they're adopted. Some say 6 months but beware - cats can easily become sexually active before that age. If you're adopting a sibling, esp male, you dont want him to start...
I've had chewers and it depends on what they like. My first chewer would even chew on these edible chew sticks. Still have teeth marks on the side of my couch. My current chewer, she likes little stuffed toys. She jams it in her mouth then just chomps for a while. If your cat likes...
Do some kitten proofing now. Look for and seal off holes. For example, had a foster kitten disappear behind dishwasher ( found a gap). Think about house rules (esp if you live with others). What will be allowed? Be consistent. One I'd really try to recommend is hands aren't toys. Kittens, like...

5 days isn't much time for a cat. Give him a couple weeks at least to feel more confident in the space. Some cats take even longer. And some cats just are more timid/cautious as their personality. I had a cat who would never let us reach down and pet her. No reason why - she just was that way.
Welcome to TCS! Good to read through links shared above. I lean towards this not being the best idea. First, I didn't know dorms allow pets! Even though my college experience was a while ago, I still remember it. It's a big change, it can be lonely, but it is also a time when you start learning...
Some could depend on how sharp your cat's claws tend to get. Untrimmed claws, could probably do some damage. Always-clipped ones, probably minimal. Do you have a cat who likes to sharpen on your couches?
Ha! I see @Alldara 's point too!!! It is good they'll be on an even playing field at a new place! I don't know that either way would be wrong. You know your cats and just try to read them!
I think I'd go back to swapping spaces until they both have a little time to explore the new place. That way they don't have the nervousness of a new place and another cat creeping up on them. But then once they seem comfortable, get back to intros. Try to stop the chase. I think you have a good...
So, we're looking for a tree for our front yard. We think we want, specifically, a Toba hawthorn. It looks like this in Spring.
From what I've read, it's mostly thornless and might not produce that many berries even. I know some varieties of hawthorns can be kind of unpleasant. Anyone have one...
Feeding kittens isn't always straightforward. When they are going through a growth spurt or maybe played extra hard, they might gobble up food. Other times they're tired for same reasons and don't eat as heartily. Also, lots of places say "feed kittens as much as they want" which isn't exactly...
