Is it time to remove my cats tail?

UPDATE on Luna. She has been put back on Prozac but at a lower level and suppliented with some hairball/constipation gel in her food. She hasn’t bit her tail since and is happy, she is going out then coming in and usually she’d bite her tail but she just chills out now and goes sleep then...

Is it time to remove my cats tail?

She is on steroids for allergies/skin issues but I’m gonna ween her off then now because they aren’t doing anything. The only thing that helped was the Prozac so I may just ask if we can lower the dosage more and suppliants her food with furball/constipation treatment I’ve got. Vet is...

Is it time to remove my cats tail?

She doesn’t lick herself but I have noticed her lower back twitching on its own. We tried gabapentin for the feline hyperesthesia as that was suggested to have helped others but it didn’t really help.

Is it time to remove my cats tail?

She did it when I’m at first so we thought it may be a boredom issue so we started letting her out more but still did it. She is flead every month on time and the steroids given are meant for any skin conditions and flea issues. Gabapentin was meant to help with like Nerve issues but didn’t...

She does do it when she is inside, it doesn’t matter if she is kept in or let out.

Is it time to remove my cats tail?

Well after many months of trying to help my cat with her tail it seems we are coming to a dead end. She was attacking her tail badly making horrible noises. Cutting it and leaving deep wounds all over. She has an X-ray there was no damage. She had her tail saved and infections drained. She was...

Hi just come to changing litter tray, put in fresh litter and found this all dried up. Started to think it may be from the cat but then haven’t noticed anything before. Anyone know what it is?

How much is too much? Litter tray usage

Well after recovering from biting her tail for weeks she is now doing well and not doing it anymore. What’s concerned me though is she seems to be using her litter tray 4 times a day sometimes 5 for a wee. She doesn’t cry out in pain whilst doing it but this morning she went once then...

Cat Biting Tail And Making Horrible Fighting Sound

UPDATE: Luna had an X-ray today and broken bones have been ruled out it was fine. She has a huge lump at the base of her tail but we don’t know if she caused this or if it was an injury which has then made her attack her tail all the time but I don’t think it was an injury from another cat...

Cat Biting Tail And Making Horrible Fighting Sound

Still waiting to go for an X-ray, noticed a scab/bump on the top of her head now aswell. I really hope the vets haven’t missed anything like flea issues. Still attacking her tail, turning into a nightmare now. Feel sorry for her

Cat Biting Tail And Making Horrible Fighting Sound

Yeah I kind of agree with the X-ray, she is too active and lets me touch her tail anywhere no problem. She only bites it when she sees it moving like she can’t help herself. Personally think she needs to go on some other medication proven to help with feline Hyperesthesia but I’ll get the X-ray...

Cat Biting Tail And Making Horrible Fighting Sound

Went back last night, checked her over again and she has no problem any touching her tail, no pain and it doesn’t drop etc. She gave me some anti inflammatory medication to try and if no improvement after that then she will have a xray which I doubt will show anything broken etc because she runs...

Cat Biting Tail And Making Horrible Fighting Sound

She does it in the mornings sometimes, let her out at like 6am and she doesn’t come in until 5pm. She will then eat and go sleep until about 8pm. Walk around a little and then moan and then start with her tail. The medication the vet gave me doesn’t seem to be helping at all. She will then sleep...

Cat Biting Tail And Making Horrible Fighting Sound

Managed to get a video. She has been out all day, comes in sleeps for a while, wakes up and then this is when she starts to play with her tail and bite it and hiss. It seems to twitch and move then she notices something and goes for it.

Honestly doing my head in now abit, she woke up about 6am started meowing to go out and before I could get up she started making the cat fighting noise obviously attacking her tail. She sees it as a play thing, I’ve managed to get a video of her doing it but not sure how I can upload on this site.
