Theres never any hostility between them when they are eating, they can happily eat & do treat puzzles near eachother at any time with no struggle at all.
Sorry for the delay in response!
They are both spayed/neutered. And i dont see any cats around, but ya never know really!
if i’m looking at it in a routine way would you suggest seperating them as soon as she gets a bit stalky, feed her seperately with some chill out music and then allow them...
@Furballsmom it might be tricky to seperate because its also throughout the day at various stages.
I want to see if there are some things we can do to help in the meantime because hes a bit more timid than i’ve known him. And i dont want her getting in the habit of bullying, especially not once...
Hi @Furballsmom :-) We tried feliway which didn’t make a difference, and is really expensive over here so not really a feasible long term solution.
Both cats have been to the vet and are all clear. We asked our vet about what we can do and they just sort of went with the ‘cats will be cats’ advice
Hi all,
I have two cats Pepa & Clancey. Clancey is just over two, and Pepa is just under two.
Lately their relationship (or lack thereof) has been really tricky.
For context, our house is well equipped for kitties, we have scratching posts everywhere, plenty of water, and they get fed 3x a...
Yeah, i’m feeling very disheartened as I can see clancey looks quite un-confident again. And its been a strain on all parties in the household as this has been going on for months on end now. I’m really trying the best I can.
I’d say her body language is more forward when shes approaching him...
Things have regressed :-( Clancey is back to hiding more and Pepa is lurching from the tent. They’ve had a few tiffs but Pepa will back off now. Feels like we are treading water 😩
Thanks for your response!
We are keeping her in her room most of the time while we do the reintroduction process (as we cant keep her out in the main living space with clancey) so we give her little bouts to run through the house. Or we have her in the main living space in her tent while we are...
Hi guys, i feel like things are progressing potentially. i’m doing lots of clicker training!
Clancey will very nervously approach her room and come in if I am in there, his confidence waxes and wanes but he’s not hiding like he used to.
She has only jumped on him once and it was like a big...
Another update: things have been odd. Its hard to know if things are different. Ill pop Maggie in her tent and let Clancey in, hes become braver in that aspect. Likes to come and watch but i can tell hes still nervy and sometimes if he comes up to the door of her tent she will whack him. They’ve...
He loves catnip, but only sometimes. Hes not phased by lasers and has been very fussy by when he wants to play. Today was the first time I had seem him actively seek out play with us.
So far Clancey has come to her bedroom door once, but it looks like hes just enjoying having the living space to himself. But i’m about to pop her in the tent and see if he wants to come and interact.
A wee update, i’ve dialled stuff right back. Maggie is back in her room for the most part, ive set up a little cat tent with all her bedding and am clicker training her to pop in there. While Maggie hasn’t been around Clancey has returned to his former self, hes scratching ALL his scratch posts...
Must be a Maggie thing eh! I have lots of high spaces (2 high cat towers) but its quite hard not to have hiding spaces as our furniture has space under them (couches, dining chairs)
Yeah thats right!
Maggie would sometimes play by the gate but I more meant like if she saw him at the gate she wouldn’t have any sort of reaction, she would just look, and walk away.
We dont free feed, i feed them 3 small meals a day, and feeding times are fine, they will linger by my feet &...
I try really hard to reinforce positive behaviour with treats, but maybe the fact that when she is stalking him or staring at him causes my attention to go to her may be part of why she keeps stalking?
we have so many resources, litter trays, bowls of water, multiple cat towers and scratchers.
