    Gallbladder Surgery

Search Results for Query: gall bladder surgery There are some threads here about gall bladder surgery and gall stones. If your vet believes that this is causing a chronic obstruction, then the surgery is recommended. Is the problem entirely confined to the gall bladder? I don't know if you are...

    MIA Surgery

Wow thats crazy! Why did you wait so long to go to the hospital when you had pain for two weeks? Are you able to eat any food or staying away from foods? Im trying to eat healthy for a bit while my stitches heal but they said I could go back to normal diet. Ive been too nervous to eat anything...

    MIA Surgery

If you're in pain you have problems. When I was just dealing with the pain, on one occasion I was in a pizzeria having supper with a group of friends, while attending a conference in a town I'd never been to before. Suddenly the "reflux" hit (actually a gall bladder attack). People saw my face...

    MIA Surgery

Oh sorry I must have worded that wrong! I was trying to type fast because my daughter was down for a nap haha. It was infact “ it was keyhole surgery, done laparoscopy” and they glued it shut and no stitches.

...out - and it was a number of years ago - it was keyhole surgery, done laparoscopy. Which was a very easy recovery for her. My gall bladder surgery was done several decades ago and that was when they really opened you up. In fact, when I was complaining to the nurse (you stayed in hospital...

    Gallbladder Surgery

Don't know about gall bladder surgery for cats. In people - I had mine removed back in the day when they really opened you up, had to lift liver out of the way to get at it, etc. Long recovery. My daughter had hers removed laparoscopically and it was a significantly much easier recovery for her...

    MIA Surgery

The first time I had a gall bladder attack I thought it was a heart attack. I was only 33 years old so the doctor told me it couldn't be my heart; must be gastroesophageal reflux disease, abbreviated GERD. That didn't seem right because there was no heartburn - I wasn't tasting or feeling acid...

Alternative to surgery for bile duct obstruction

Hi My angel Poppycat had bile duct/pancreas/liver/gall bladder issues in 2019 that they were calling triaditis/cholangitis, but his issues were not to this extent of requiring surgery. This is rough, no question about it, however you are doing everything you can on behalf of your cat. If you...

Any advice before surgery? I'm scared

Be very up front with the vet that the low fat diet will not work and ask what the ramifications or possible alternatives are after gall bladder surgery.

Any advice before surgery? I'm scared

After my gall bladder surgery the surgeon visited me in the hospital to ask whether I needed any pain medications, and I said "No, I haven't had any pain at all since you took the nasty thing out." (All right, I didn't say "nasty," but this is a child friendly site.) And he looked doubtful and...

IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease) or something else ?

I'm glad it was negative for IBD, that's a start! Interesting about the gallbladder. Sometimes no reason's found for any of this, as we learned last year when Edwina had to have stomach surgery. I'll be really interested to hear what your regular vet might say, particularly given Missy's...

    Should we go on prednisolone?

I did a bit of searching online for you... Apparently this issue can cause a rupture in the gall bladder and result in bile leaking into the abdomen if not treated. I would suggest going on the advice of your vets and having the surgery.

Any advice before surgery? I'm scared

Musiaka has IBD, but in general he's in a good condition, eats well (although I suspect that his current food has something to do with how fast the gallstones grew in size cause it has a pretty high fat content, 8%!), is interested in life, doesn't lose weight so I hope his condition is good...

    Should we go on prednisolone?

I have just received an answer from our old vet in Stockholm, Sweden. This is what he says: "Gallstones are assymtomatic in cats and other animals unless they are causing a blockage. That's when they need to be removed. I have never done the surgery on a cat just because of vomiting, let alone...

    Should we go on prednisolone?

I have had GI troubles (IBS being one of then) for a long time. I have been tested before and Gall Stones did not show up. Last year, however they did. Some people live with Gall Stones a long time (like your mom) and they do not encounter a problem. However, if stones do get stuck in the Bile...

Question of the Day, Friday, January 8

...overnight was when I had my son. A couple years later, I went in for a tubal ligation. A few years after that, I had a complete hysterectomy. Gall bladder surgery was done as a same day surgery and I went home that afternoon. Same with knee surgery. That's been it. So far. What about you?

Any advice before surgery? I'm scared

I did ask that when I talked to the surgeon that we were booked at. She said that ibd creates serious issues when it comes to healing after the surgery. There is no way he could be earting his previous food after it. I also talked to a vet from another clinic that offers gallbladder removal...

    Ursodiol or gallbladder removal?

Wow....what a place to be! I have not treated gall bladder specifically in any animal I have owned and so have no direct experience with ursodiol. I would ask about side effects of the medication; aside from the fact that it might cause a blockage (or might not work and thereby cause the...

    Inflammation of Abdominal Lining

Monkeydo is 14.6 years old. The 2020 surgery was to remove 3 giant pseudocysts from his liver. Once inside, the surgeon saw that the "cysts" were his bile ducts, presumably taking on the role of the atrophied gall bladder. It was a rare surgery. Nobody could say how it would hold up. We have...
