I'd love to get a puzzle feeder for my girls. Unfortunately, most of them are plastic and one of my cats is allergic. Do you know of any plastic free puzzle feeders I can get for them?
She does always have access to food. The issue usually presents itself if she runs out. I'll definitely look into putting something into her bowl to slow her down.
Hello, everyone. I have a kitten who has a tendency to eat too fast and gorge herself, which unfortunately means that she throws up from time to time. I was looking into slow feeder bowl inserts for her and was wondering if anyone had tried something like that, and if they worked well.
If anyone's curious for an update, it seems that I did manage to get all of the peppermint oil off of Cassie before she ingested any. She's currently doing very well, albeit a bit tired from some extensive zoomies with her kitten friend. There should be no more risk of exposure, and I think my...
A second update: The second baby canine has fallen out. I'm not sure when it happened, but I got home from work today and noticed that it wasn't there. Anuket is currently snuggled up next to me, legs in the air, and perfectly comfortable. Thanks again, everyone, for your comments. This has been...
Thanks, everyone, for sharing your experiences. The vet didn't seem to be too concerned, but just wanted to prepare me for the possibility. The good news is that one of the baby teeth popped out last night while we were cuddling, and I suspect the next one will follow in the next few days, so it...
Thanks so much for the list of symptoms. I'll definitely be watching for those. Thankfully, it's looking like I managed to get the stuff off her before she could ingest any and is currently doing very well. I spoke with the vet and they said that it's unlikely at this point that it'll be an...
Yes, she plopped down on the carpet wanting pets. It was a well-meaning family member trying to use the stuff as an insecticide not knowing how dangerous it could be. She seems perfectly fine today (and currently has the zoomies), and I spoke with the vets on the phone and they said that they...
Hello everyone. One of my cats recently came into contact with a bit of peppermint oil-based rodent repellent. I don't think it was a lot, but it was enough that her fur smelled fairly minty. I used some cat wipes to wipe her down as best I could, and I don't smell it on anymore. However, I was...
Thanks! The vet did say that it was only a possibility and didn't seem too concerned. I think he just wanted to warn me of the possibility and let me know to keep an eye on them. I'm glad to hear that I likely won't need to worry.
Hello everyone. I recently took my five month old kitten to the vet and he told me that her adult upper canines are growing in alongside her baby canines. Apparently, this can resolve on it's own, but there is a chance that she could lose both the adult and baby teeth. Obviously, this is...
Hello everyone. Last year, I fostered two extremely beautiful little girls for the shelter I work with. Unfortunately, the orange tabby, Andromeda, passed away very unexpectedly during her spay leaving her sister, Cassiopeia, alone. I ended up adopting Cassie, and I have to say, she's been an...
If anyone's still interested in how Cassie and Anuket are doing, here's a photo from today of the two of them on my mom's bed. I think I made the right choice when I decided to foster fail a second time.
So I have a new update on little Anuket. She ended up making good friends with my own cat over the course of the past couple months and they are now completely inseparable. My cat Cassiopeia, who happens to be a foster fail from last year, had a sister who she was very close with. Unfortunately...
I don't know if anyone's still interested, but Anuket and her brothers are now just over three months old. The two boys were neutered last week and Anuket and Mama Maat should be spayed within the next week or so, depending on when our foster coordinator can get an appointment for them. Sweet...
So Anuket is almost back to her original weight. In case anyone is interested in the full timeline:
Last Monday she weighed 9oz/254g.
Last Tuesday she'd lost about 0.75oz/21g and wasn't nursing as much as she should have been.
By Wednesday, she'd lost another 0.75oz/19g. I took her down to the...
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'll definitely be looking into some of these. Sorry I've been a bit unresponsive. I've been dealing with a very, very sick neonatal kitten who is thankfully on the mend.
