I know that Vivibebean on this thread experienced red areas on her cat that her vet told her were excoriations, or marks resulting from scratching.

I think people will be leery about suggesting possible diagnoses. Are you able to bring your cat to the vet? Are you thinking it might be ringworm? Or you just don’t know.

Oh god, I’m relieved for you! It’s such a confusing disease. I appreciate the support you gave me, also. 💜

Wow, those are big red areas. How alarming! I came on here today to write you that two little bald spots showed up on Merlin’s ear several days ago. I chose to ignore them, because I just couldn’t believe it. And now they are gone. And all the hair is growing back on his ears. So I think he is...

Well, I am SO glad I found you both. I was upset! BTW, I spent about $400 before finding out it wasn’t ringworm. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Oh well. I’m going to donate all the Rescue spray to Brenda’s Cat Rescue in Philadelphia. Or most of it …. Maybe it’s tempting fate to give it all away.

Thank you Sandy! It has been so nice chatting with you. Yes it seems like we are in the clear. I said exactly that to a friend of mine who was encouraging me to buy an Electrolux: that I would never in 1 million years spend that kind of money on a vacuum. L O L.

As for me, I have become a much more diligent and regular cleaner, LOL. Swiffer, where have you been all my life? I love those tools. I cannot believe how much the dry swiffer mop gets up off the floor. The wet swiffer mop I regard as just a washing touchup. It’s not a super thorough cleaning. I...

Hi, sorry I missed this. I’ve been distracted visiting my 91-year-old mother in the facility where she has gone since her dementia became severe. I’m sure you are destined for better things, LOL! The hair is growing back on his ears, yes. But I don’t even care. Since the vet experienced it with...

All three cultures negative! Hooray! Let me see if I have a picture of merlins ears. I think so much hair has grown back now that a current picture wouldn’t tell you much. The vet doesn’t know what it is. She didn’t know what it was when her own cat experienced the same thing. Every spring!

I assume you already got culture results back, and it’s definitely ringworm. That must be how you got the oral med. Listen, if it’s only one spot, you’re in great shape. Also the fact that the kitten has only been with you 1 week is fantastic. I had a similar situation: a new cat and only three...

Rescue wipes are fabulous! I didn’t even know they existed, and was using spray and paper towels. I agree; the first week or two are incredibly overwhelming. But then it helps to actually write out a schedule for when you are going to clean what, and it becomes somewhat habitual. It’s a huge...

I really feel your distress. I was super distressed when I thought it was back for the second time, and I launched into a massive house cleaning and storage operation. Just keep in mind that not all hair loss is ringworm; I’m still so surprised that Merlin’s hairless ears are due to some other...

@vivibebean Also, 80-hr per week job! Good thing he left, before he dropped dead. Put a vacuum in his hand. 😁 Your plan sounds great; that is what I was doing, mapping out a weekly cleaning plan. — “For me, I think I will still continue to keep my cats in their own kernels until I get two...
