Budesonide - experience with tapering or weaning?

...starts with chronic exposure to allergens. By the way, read up on Carageenan and see what you think. If anyone has any advice based on their experiences with treating feline small cell lymphoma, Chlorambucil, Budesonide, Prednisolone, or any related matter, I highly welcome hearing all...

Budesonide - experience with tapering or weaning?

Hi, this info might come too late for the original poster. I did research on Budesonide for my cat (intestinal small cell lymphoma validated by PARR testing of mesenteric lymph nodes). I tried Prednisolone 2mg first but she reacted poorly so I quickly terminated that after 3 days, then 2 days...

Low potassium in Hyperthryoid, CKD, possible IBD or possible SCL

Update on my Sweet Orange. He seems to be doing ok. I switched to Budesonide from Pred about 2 weeks ago. He does not seem quite as enthusiastic about food as he was on Pred. He is still eating, but he's a bit pickier. I've been using Mirtazapine (oral) about once a week. I truly hate to use it...

Need help understanding cat's rapid CKD decline & vet saying euthanize if no improvement in 2 days

...impacts on kidneys, but every cat is different, so it is possible Pred has played a role. I would ask about this and see if Phoebe could be placed on Budesonide instead. It works on the intestinal tract much like Pred but has far less impact on the rest of the body comparatively speaking.

    Question about HCM and Prednisolone

FeebysOwner - After research Jengo's recent heart diagnosis I found that Bengal (and other breeds) are more prone to HCM. I feel that my old vet should have know this and not insisted that he continue to take Prednisolone if he is prone to heart problems. This is so upsetting. I have been...

Budesonide - experience with tapering or weaning?

...Would you be able to communicate with a University Medical Veterinary Department? This is a list in date order from TCS threads that mention Budesonide, but as feebysowner mentioned, I don't know if there's anything helpful or that answers your questions; Search Results for Query: budesonide

Budesonide - experience with tapering or weaning?

Hi. I searched this site for previous threads - and the internet (as I am sure you did too)) - and found nothing about weaning/tapering Budesonide. I am thinking you might have some success on one of the forums related to IBD and/or SCL in cats since the members are more focused on treatments...

Budesonide - experience with tapering or weaning?

Hi, my cat is currently on budesonide 1mg/daily for suspected IBD/SCL (no biopsy, just ultrasound showing thickening & enlarged lymph nodes). His only symptom is vomiting and it's well-controlled at this dose. I'm seeking insight on anyone's experiences with weaning or tapering budesonide...

    Question about HCM and Prednisolone

...be why the one vet didn't think it would be an issue - and, I suspect with some cats it is not. But, don't forget to ask the vet(s) about Budesonide instead of Pred. All meds are technically 'hard' on either the kidneys or the liver, ss they are processed by one or the other - some by both...

    Question about HCM and Prednisolone

Thanks for responding FeebysOwner. The vet that treated Jengo for 17 years was the one who put him on Prednisolone for IBD a couple of years ago. After doing some research I found out that long term Pred use is not recommended. When I asked the vet he said that cats handle it very well with...

    Question about HCM and Prednisolone

...Jengo's conditions. As I understand it long term use of Pred may impact the heart, as well as contribute to the development of diabetes. Budesonide is often used in lieu of Pred, for IBD, as it does not have the same impacts to either. So, you may want to ask about that for Jengo's IBD. I...

    Repeating Rectal Prolapse

...all. She said I can use it if he's really being difficult about not wanting to eat. The vet then said if that doesn't work then we can try Budesonide. Thankfully there haven't been any food issues and neither medication has been needed. As for his prolapses, they continue to happen and I...

    Prednisolone reaction? Very worried…

...OCD will have to wait until you've accumulated more postings and then are granted editing "privileges". [so, tell it to put itself on hold for reasons outside its control ] Interesting mention of "budesonide" from @stephanietx post #7 - good to know. OK........watching and waiting here! .

    Prednisolone reaction? Very worried…

...kitty also on prednisolone as needed. We've never had these side effects, but I do know side effects exist, we've just not experienced them. Agitation is a side effect of steroids, so there is that. If he needs a steroid, you can ask for budesonide, which also has anti-inflammatory properties.

    Loss of appetite

...Tumbles' papers from the vet, my vet said that if my kitty ever developed diabetes from long-term steroid use, they would prescribe budesonide because it has anti-inflammatory properties. From the IBD group on Facebook, some vets start with budesonide it seems, but Tumbles is doing well on...

    Loss of appetite

You did say buprenorphine, but I thought you meant budesonide. If you truly meant buprenorphine is being used as a replacement for prednisolone, do you have something that you could share which states that? If so, that would be great.

    Loss of appetite

...not so good day. It's discouraging, but it's common for this kind of recovery. When you make changes, you have to stay the course for at least 72 hours, if not longer. It's so difficult to watch them not improve when you expect it. And yes, I did mean bup, not budesonide. Sorry for the...

...before my cat started taking it for pain, and I never came across anything to do with it being a substitute for prednisolone. I know budesonide can be used in lieu of pred for IBD cats who have or are at risk of diabetes or certain heart conditions. Buprenorphine is a partial opioid used for...

    Introducing Betty White

He squawks a bit-- actually moans, but he is so good at taking meds. I really licked out with him. The only time he...
