Trying to sleep in studio with cat!

Hi all, I’m sitting a sweet cat in a studio apartment. I’m a very light sleeper and every night at some point the cat scratches on his igloo cat bed, meows loudly and runs around. Not a ton but enough that I wake up a lot. Can I move the cat bed? Or cover the wood outer part so that cat can’t...

Had to let Otto go, and feel guilt and worry about how it transpired.

Hi everyone, I moved with my beloved Otto (10) to the city, after living in the mountains for his whole life. We were down here for less than two months when a neighbor cat (a very mean cat) jumped into the yard, bit Otto and caused a wound that abscessed...got it treated, but Otto didn't seem...

    Cat depressed and bored?

Thank you for saying that...Others have, too (that his bond with me is most important). So, I'll work on the enrichment but trust in the bond...:)

    Cat depressed and bored?

Thanks, everyone. In my mind, my cat will never be happy because his happiness is based on exploring and hunting. I feel it's like taking a person who loves the outdoors (skiing, hiking, etc) and putting them inside. Forever. But he DOES have access to a really nice yard (and can go out front...

    Cat depressed and bored?

Hi all, Well, I moved my cat from the mountains to the big city, found a place with a yard, and--he is totally unimpressed. He lives to hunt voles and explore outside (though he'd always come home to eat and sleep a lot), and the yard just holds no interest for him. I am worried about him. He...

How to move an anxiety-prone cat to new house?

Thanks, everyone. So, just to clarify....I could leave cat behind for half a day, but it would be in a place (old, familiar place) with very little furniture (though of course he'd have litter box, food, favorite blanket etc...). Then I could move him into new place once everything else has...

How to move an anxiety-prone cat to new house?

Sorry-- my question was: "Ah, so get the new place ready/moved into, and then fetch the cat from the old place?"

How to move an anxiety-prone cat to new house?

Hi all, I'll be moving my cat to a new home, soon. It will have a yard and outdoor access (he is used to going in and out). I want it to be as stress-free as possible. He HATES being in the cat carrier. Meows like he's dying, whole time. It'll be an hour car trip (not so bad). But...Should I...

Would my indoor/outdoor cat be happy only indoors?

Thank you so much, everyone. I actually found a place that has a yard! So, perhaps an easier transition for him. Of course, I will be watching him and won't let him out at first...actually, I need some advice on moving a cat to a new home, so I'll create separate thread. Thank you so much!!!

Would my indoor/outdoor cat be happy only indoors?

Thanks so much. And so sorry about your cats who died....:( He doesn't tolerate harness/leash, but perhaps a balcony would be acceptable to him, etc. I am just heartbroken thinking about it...I feel like he shouldn't have to move to the city and live indoors...Ugh. :(

Would my indoor/outdoor cat be happy only indoors?

Hi everyone, I have a cat I got as a rescue, from a shelter, years ago. He's 10. He's wonderful, and we live in an area where he goes outside about half the day, and loves to hunt voles and roam around. He returns to nap, eat, and sleep with me. But going outside is definitely his 'thing'. I...

Discoloration on the bridge of my cat's nose

I think my cat has the same thing going on! Vet was baffled, gave me wipes...nothing I've done helps. Looks a bit fainter but I *think* maybe some fur has come off (hence the fainter color, or less spots)? Also nose is always wet. Eyes have a little gunk in them. I wish I knew if it were...

Cat has slightly-raised dark spots on bridge of nose

Hi all, These appeared a week or so ago...They seem to be slightly raised dark/black spots on the furry bridge of his nose, not on the smooth, skin part of nose. His nose also seems wetter (at nostrils) than usual. Brought him to vet and vet gave me some antibiotic stuff to put on nose. Wasn't...
