When it comes to hybrid cats with the results/intention of something "housecat-able" with the looks of an exotic cat, MANY things work. (Savannahs, Bengals, Caracats, Chausies, and others). Many of the others have names and looks that would indicate many other different exotic breeds, BUT...
I vote not bobcat, but maybe an exotic mix with a domestic and a smaller wild cat. In Florida it's not uncommon for non native species to be set free when they get to be too much to handle. So maybe a bob tail domestic mama, and an ocelot or a bengal or something like that as a parent. He is too...
...gene, for example.
Having said that, a lot of people do believe that domestic cats breed with bob-cats. I'm not sure if it's ever been proven though. If you type "Bob-cathybrid" into the search bar at the top of the TCS page you'll see lots of other threads about possible bob-cat cross kittens.
a friend of my grandfather lives in south Dakota and he has a first generation domestic/bob cat hybrid. the mother his cat was a maine coon and the father was a bobcat. I don't have any pictures but the cat looks like a a big short haired brown spotted tabby, his face is a bit longer and thicker...
I am wanting to see if anyone can help me determine if these kittens might be mixed with a Exotic/wild? Unfortunately when I was at the hospital having our new baby boy, our beautiful Himilayan slipped out while our older kids were watching her. She did end up pregnant.
Earlier this summer...
My cousin had a hybrid a long time ago. He just thought it was a regular cat until he took it to the vet. It looked like a really large house cat. It was friendly, but really liked to hunt. I know of another one that looked a lot like a bob cat. They usually are pretty much like a regular house...
Yes, breed standards can be hard to interpret if you're not used to how things are described and used to associating the words with the cats. and even if you are, since breeders write the standards and have their own way they try to express it. Some standards are much more detailed than...
They are illegal (in the United States- same with having wolf hybrids), so admitting to it and selling the kittens and advertising them is a death sentence. The only way to prove it is a DNA tests or of course if you have photographic evidence of a mating like my cousin did. (They caught the...
I'm new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself and share my cats with everyone.
I currently only have one male cat, His name is Odin and he is an awsome Highland Lynx
He is my lover cat, and spends a lot of time on my lap or laying on my side when I watch TV. I could not have wished...

Feline Hybrids: What is the Fascination?
Feline hybrids (cat hybrids) are a trend. Why is it that many people will protest the sale of the pelts of those exotic cats found worldwide, but will fall for the promotion and want to buy exotic...
Welp, the cord on my laptop has been chewed through! I have spliced it as much as I can and now it is hopeless and the batteries on it are now dead… Go figure. So here I sit at my home computer in the dining room, forcing my poor son to play and watch cartoons instead <gasp>. So...

The desert lynx is a hybrid cat that follows the Pixie Bob breed. The Pixie Bob was one of the first recognized hybrids between a bobcat and a domesticated barn cat. However, the legend of the Pixie Bob is that it had occurred naturally by a bobcat breeding with a farmers domesticated barn cats...
Hmmm where did you get this information? I haven't heard of any Bobcat/Siamese crossing. Just because a cat has a bobbed tail, does not mean it was crossed with a Bobcat. When talking Bobcat, do you mean an American Bobtail, or a similar breed, or a true 100% Bobcat. There is a breed of cat...
I don't really understand the chausie breed, it seems like a free for all any wild cat will do mix. I haven't exactly done a lot of reasearch on it, but the other day I did a search on "a chausie is..." because I was curious.
I found this off a breeder's website:
Depending on the breeder...
