Cats who encourage you to sleep and don't wake you up

Lots of people ask how to get their cats to calm down so they can sleep through the night. They claim they barely get any rest. Does anyone have the opposite problem?

Nano prompts me to go to sleep on a somewhat regular basis. If I am working late at the computer, she'll give me the "follow me (over here)" meow before walking towards the bedroom. I wonder what might be wrong so I get up to see what is happening. Then she lays down on the bed and repeats the "follow me (over here)" meow a few times...essentially beckoning me to sleep.

And when the alarm clock goes off, Nano will leave her window perch and lay across my legs so I can't get out of bed. I have to slowly nudge her off me and only then does she grudgingly let me out of bed so I can start my day.

But I don't have 3 AM wakeup calls like a lot of cat owners. Anyone in the same boat as me?

When I first brought Cleo home, she was about 8 weeks old. I decided to sleep on the couch to see if she was alright the first night. She hopped up on the couch with me, so I picked her up and put her on a pillow on the floor. She looked up at me and started to meow. My girlfriend said it was probably because she has always slept with her mom and siblings and didn't want to be alone. I picked her up again and laid her with me, and she stopped crying and went to sleep. Of course, that morning she woke me up at 5AM by licking me in the face.

A few days later we got Caesar. He slept with me too, but didn't cause as much of a fuss. Cleo likes to wake us up early, so I can relate to those folks who are also woken up by their little guys.

Lmao. Maybe Nano thinks you do not sleep enough.

My little girl Misty sleeps with me all the time. I can't really say that she's ever prompted me to sleep, but she has timing better than any alarm clock I've ever had.
One morning I had to be up for work at 3 am. The power had gone out during the night, and my alarm clock was off. Misty woke me up at exactly 3 am by biting me on the lower lip.

When it gets to be around normal bed time - any time one of us gets up or walks around - Salem thinks it is time for bed and will lead the way. If we don't go to bed, she meows and basically wants us to go to bed because she says so.
We we get up, she will also beat us or lead us to the bathroom. She gets a little irritated if we don't follow our normal routine.

I'm not sure of explanations for Nano's behavior, but I tend to agree that it probably has something to do with routine and timing issues.

Sakura does something simiar to your cat Nano, but slightly different

The second i open my eyes in the morning shell start wanting to cuddle with me. After a good 1/2 hour of cuddling then she wants me to feed her. So, i get up and feed her but after she eats a few bites she then goes back to the bedroom and starts meowing for me to come back. She wants me in there till about noon and then gives up. The whole routin will then restart the next morning. The rest of the day she doesnt really care.

I never go to bed at the same time every night, so Oliver doesn't beckon me to bed, but as soon as I get in, he's right there next to me, ready to sleep! He will sleep through the night til about 5 or 6 am, but instead of waking me up, he'll visit the potty box, his food and his window then come back to bed... he's usually back to dreaming whenever I wake up and I never want to get out of bed because he cuddles and purrs with me and it's just too darn cute! During the day, he'll sleep on my pillow or in my ladybug bean bag chair or if I'm not home and come back, I find him curled up on my computer chair

Spirit tries to lure anyone into bed that she can, because that is the only place she will cuddle (draped across your right shoulder and throat) we usually end up falling asleep there and taking a nap.

Even before I start getting ready to go to sleep, Katie's already in on the bed. She's also the only one of thre three that stays all night and doesn't try to wake me up in the morning!

I just recently let Mellie start sleeping on my bed with me. The first few nights she woke me up quite a few times. I consistently shooed her off the bed every time she did something that woke me up. Eventually she learned that if she wanted to be on the bed with me, she couldn't do anything to wake me up. And now she's just fine. Actually, last night I woke HER up when I got up to go to the bathroom.

I've never had kitties that have "woken me up" like members here at TCS

They let me sleep unless of course it is a pregnant queen and she's due to have babies then she will come and wake me up
