Hi, I Am New To The Site And I Dont Know Where Ur Supposed To Put Ur Post,, Sorry.. [/font]

Anyway, I Have A Cat That Is A Male Five Years Old. Who Had A Urinary Tract Infection About 3 Years Ago.

Well Today, He Peeied On The Leather Couch, Looked Just Like Water, Very Clear. When He Did Have His Infection His Pee Had A Small Amount Of Blood In It Where I Found It Just Outside His Litter Box.

He Has Never Done This Before Even When He Had The Infection. I Am Very Confused And Concerned For His Well Being.

The Other Problem Is That He Is A Scared Nelly. Its So Difficult To Get Him Into The Cat Carrier To The Vet. I Have Tried All!!! Would Anyone Know Of A Vet That Comes To The House, Or A Site Where I Can Look One Up.. I Live In Queens, New York..

Thanks!

Thank you for your concern for Mere, Gina, and your desire for him to be in the best of health. I would definitely recommend that Mere be examined by a Vet as soon as possible. It is most likely that he has another urinary tract infection, and this requires prompt treatment. I am not aware of Vets in your area who will make housecalls, hopefully someone else will have information regarding this. Sierra is the same way, very nervous about going to the Vet. Although it is difficult for both of us, it is well worth it and for her benefit that she sees her Vet. Please do have Mere examined and treated.

I have one that struggles. I find that turning her upside-down (paws in the air) and putting her in quickly head-first usually works. While she's turning herself back over, I can close the door. With my mom's cat, who also struggles, I sometimes wrap her in a towel first.

If you have a double-doored carrier, this is even easier, but a single door will work fine, too. With a single door: Open the door and put the carrier on its opposite end (with the open door facing toward the ceiling). With a double door: Just open the top door.

Pick up your cat behind his front legs. His back legs will automatically stretch dangle toward the floor. In this stretched-out position, it should be easy to get him into the carrier (back legs first).

It REALLY helps if your cat is accustomed to the carrier just being around. Some people leave theirs out all the time, and their cats use the carrier as hiding/sleeping places. You can take off the door of most models if that helps. We don't have room to leave ours out all the time, so we take it out a few days before a vet visit and leave it out for a few days after. Make it more comfy with a towel and a favorite toy inside.

Good luck!

I put the carrier against a wall for leverage and open the door. Then I pick up kitty and take her quietly into the room where the carrier is, and then gently hold her front legs back toward her bodyand put her in head first, slowing letting go of the legs as she goes in. The carrier doesnt move back, because its against the wall. Works every time and my girl HATES the carrier and wont fall for the 'treats inside' trick anymore.. good luck!
