My kitten is very picky all of a sudden about what he eats. He always ate Friskies can food and Meow Mix Kitten food (dry food) since he wouldnt eat the Purina I bought. Is there a food out there that would be like a yummy treat to him that he will just love? He won't really eat anything anymore. I even made him kitten glop and he isn't interested.

I have 4 kittens (3 - 6 weeks old, 1 - 7 weeks old). They all love SophistaCat Supreme Kitten canned food. This same kitten food was used in weaning these 4 in addition to 2 others.

The only time that this food did not work for me was when Squeakers was tiny, just after I got him and just newly weaned - approx 4 weeks old, he did not want to eat because of an Upper Resp. Infection at which time the vet gave me a special canned food. I think it was a prescription food, the key to this food according to the vet was that it was "smelly" and Squeakers would be able to smell it.

My kittens also eat Science Diet dry kitten food.

I have had very good luck with fedding Petsmart's Authority brand foods to picky eaters. You might give it a try.

Maybe it was Science Diet A/D food? That's what I use to get my foster kits to eat. Expensive...I drop about $2.50 a can for it if I don't get it from the shelter.

It could be a upper resp. if he won't eat. I'd take him to the vet if he won't eat food too long--it may not be what you're feeding him. If the vet determines that he is sick, ask him about food. Actually, ask him if you should force-feed him (the cat, not the vet). If the vet says yes, get a syringe (probably 12cc) from the vet and a can of either science diet a/d (from the vet) or a can of "precise" cat food from the pet store, mash it, add water, mash some more, draw the mash up in the syringe, and get a towel. Prepare for a mess. Force feed the kitten. Repeat it several times a day until he eats on his own.

If he's not sick...try feeding him the same thing a few days in a row, get a little on your finger, put it in his mouth and then just leave him be for a while to see if he wants to try it on his own. Sometimes changing food too often will make the cat fussy.

I actually took him to the vet today (well actually yesterday now) and all they did was give him a shot of pennisillan and some more dewormer. I was told to bring in a stool sample and then they will give me a bottle of antibiotics for whatever reason I dont know. He is VERY inactive too. He used to run around with my other cats and eat well and then 2 or 3 days ago he totally changed. I don't know what else to do.

A good kitten food that I used before is Royal Canin Babycat, its very small kibble. The smallest I have ever seen. Another I have used and they liked the taste was Purina One kitten Formula. As for cans I have used Authority kitten and Max cat kitten as well as the Nutro Natural Choice pouched food for kittens.
