When Phoenix came home with me for the first time last week he played and explored for 6 hours straight. Little guy was clearly super happy to no longer be in cage in the shelter! His favorite go to was the cat tower and the toy mouse that dangles from it. He managed to pull it completely off and " kill it" he then played with the thing every day. Today I found it floating in his water bowl . It was just a cheap stuffed thing so it was ruined and had to toss it. I would like to find something similar for him since he clearly loved it so much. It was just a large stuffed furry mouse. It made no noise and was made from fake fur. Every thing I see on Amazon is either to small, or rattles, or is made from rabbit fur. Anyone have any ideas where I can find something similar to his toy?

Go to a Pet food store and check out their toy selection. Most of the ones I have seen are made of cloth and come in a variety of sizes. If you prefer to,shop online then check out Dr. Fosters and also Chewy.

In the infants section at Target there is a wide selection of small stuffed animals. Also in toys. Dont remember the price. Some went clearance. I lovves chasing after one after I through it. Other stuff I bought on Amazon and have had for years. She would love the go cat catcher with a mouse

I don't know where to find a toy mouse for your little boy...But God bless you for bringing him home, and getting him out of one of those cages. I can't stand to see a caged animal, especially a cat. I hope you and Phoenix have a long and happy life together.

Lily loves her squeaky mice. Here's one for less than $4.

One of my mom's cats loves that thing. When she was a kitten she'd throw it against the wall to amuse herself. So you'd just be sitting in the living room and hear WHAM squeaksqueaksqueak WHAM squeaksqueaksqueak for hours, lol.

Usually the mouse that hangs on cat trees is the average rattly mouse. I think this brand is closest:

If it really was soft without a plastic rattle insert, I think this brand will be a good substitute:

Or maybe one of the Kong refillables.

Also, most cat toys can recover from a dunking. Just set it aside on a wad of paper towels and it should be OK in a day or two.

I'm curious about this too, because my cat did the exact same thing and she adores them (she also pulled of the round soft ball in addition to the mice) and she might be very sad if something happens to them.

The go cat mouse wand is one of the favorites here. The only issue is that the tail is made of a tiny strip of leather. One day Keith caught it and before I could get it away from him, he bit off the tail and swallowed it! Luckily it didn't harm him. Just a warning to everyone - be quick or cut off the tail before you let you cats play with it.

Leather is digestible. One of my dogs ate 3 leashes before I switched to nylon (I really prefer leather leashes though). He would also eat any leather or rabbit fur cat toys I bought. He swallowed one whole so I asked the vet and he said that leather should be digestible and there's usually only trouble if they eat such a large chunk of it that it can't digest before it gets to the intestines.

So tl;dr: I wouldn't worry about a cat eating a leather tail :D.

My cats love the soft fleece balls that come with the cat trees, too. I haven't been able to find a good substitute for those, though. So I keep washing them and sewing them up even when I would have thrown away any other toy. Oh well! Anything to keep the kitties happy!

Not an issue at my house. First thing that Willow does with new mice is to rip the tail off. She doesn’t eat it, she just likes her mice without tails

If you want to try something cheap to see if kitty likes it, just take an old white athletic sock and tie some knots in it. Makes a good kitty kick or chase toy for practically nothing. Worked for my cats, and I later got them a kicker toy once I knew they liked something like that.

Sopdet likes my laptop. What kind of toy would work for her (besides the old broken down one that won't even power on) that I have. (Supervised and unplugged) of course.
