Nate will be coming home soon. He has not finished the hike. He did over 2300 miles of it but decided to stop due to injuries and weather. A tent does not provide very good shelter with hurricane force winds and snow! His injuries would be considered minor at home, but hiking is a different story. I can soon stop worrying! I do have to say though, that although I was/am against him doing the hike, I am proud of him! I just hope he waits a VERY LONG time before doing something like this again.

It's good he is doing the wise thing. I've bet it's been very worrisome for you ever since he started the hike. Sounds like he is a fine young man and I can tell how proud you are.

Good for him! Make makes total sense to stop when it is too dangerous to continue. Bet you that is going to be some homecoming party!

Probably no party- chances are we won’t see him until late October or even Thanksgiving in November. We don’t live in the same area- he is more than an hour away. I know he is exhausted.
That is awesome. How long was he gone for? Where did he go?
He was hiking the Pacific Crest Trail that stretches from the Mexico/California border to the Washington/Canadian border. He started the Tuesday after Easter. I have talked to him once- he called me from a mountain top on Mother’s Day.

I can imagine your relief that he's on his way home. (After he graduated college, our son and a friend drove to Florida and then down to Key West. I knew he'd be fine, but I was worried until he got back home. They were only gone three weeks.) Parents worry....it's the law. My son never understood that until he became a parent. It was one of the first things he told me after his son was born.

I hope your son's injuries are not serious and that he'll be fine.

He is home - flew in this morning on the red eye so he could run a 5k with his girlfriend today. They have a wedding to go to in California next month and then they go to Spain. I am not sure when, just know it is in November. I sure hope I see them sometime in between. It has been a little over 6 months since we saw him.

Well at least you know he is home. But that boy better find time to see his parents ! And don’t you wish you had his kind of energy?
