Odd Issue With Male Cat

My male cat Jasper is almost 4 and was rescued 2 years ago, after being an outdoor cat that was abandoned in the wood behind my house. He seems to be having some peeing issues. Two weeks ago from today he went to the vet because he was constantly in and out of his box with nothing coming out. He was given antibiotics for a UTI and some meds to calm spasms in his bladder. The antibiotics was a 2 week shot, so today the 2 weeks wears off. A few days ago, he started going in and out of the box again. Called the vet, they said he can't be having a UTI again, so we got meds for inflammation. The vet said that if this doesn't work he may have crystals, but last year at this same exact time, Jasper had the same exact issue. Jasper gets very stressed out when he sees the squirrels going crazy in the yard. The vet thinks this all may be psychological and that he is having these issues because of stress. He doesn't go in the box constantly at night, just during the day.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar with their cats? Especially if the cat was a former outdoor cat?

I don't know the answers to all your questions, I'm sure they will be answered soon, but I will say it could be possible that he might still have a UTI even after a round of antibiotics. Is he urinating at all today?

No. He hasn't done so in a while. I haven't seen him go in the box since about 5 PM, though he did have his anti-inflammatory pill.

My cat had a bout of stress induced cystitis. He had to be catheterized to keep his opening clear so he could pee.
And it is entirely possible that he could still have UTI, I have NO IDEA why the vet would say it's not possible. There are many different types of bacteria with different types of antibiotics, so although the cerenia may have helped, it is very possible that it did not clear it completely.
With my boy, he also had crystals present but the crystals were not the cause of his issues, the crystals formed because the pee was "stagnant" in his bladder, because he couldn't void completely.
In his case, we had a bad bear season, they were coming right up to the windows and crapping all over the yard, so poor Chewy was terrified of the big scary intruders.
His case was pretty severe, he was catheterized for 5 days, and hospitalized for 6 (the sixth day was to monitor that he would not re block when the catheter was removed.) He was placed on several medications.
anti-inflammatory
anti-spasmodic
anti-depressant
antibiotic
It took over a month before he was peeing close to normal again.
Although he is getting all riled up due to the squirrels, he could be stressed about a different animal that may be coming around at night.

My father called, as Jasper is technically his cat. I asked him again about the UTI and now he says he doesn't know now what the vet said about the UTI. :disappointed: He just recalls something about crystals.

He doesn't have the problem at night though, just during the day. Though he does have a room in the basement that he likes to sleep in and there is a window there he looks out sometimes. I just don't see how he cats at night, but in the day when I am home to witness it, he goes crazy about the squirrels.

I'd have to cover every window and door then, as he runs from one to another, then to the door. It would probably be easier to put him in a bedroom with the blinds closed. He has been perfect all night, not once in the box since 5 PM, but as I said earlier, he did get an anti-inflammatory, so that could be why.

Well, he went in the shortly after I posted above. Big pee. Then he was just in now and nothing.
The vet said they would give him an injection of the anti-inflammatory, according to my father, so he will likely go back tomorrow and we will take it from there.
