DNA is the only way to be sure. He looks to me like a snowshoe, which is a pointed cat with white. This color combination is common in the general domestic cat population.

Domestic long hair seal point with white.

Most cats aren't a particular breed or a mix of any particular breed. Breeding cats is a newer human hobby and there simply isn't a big enough portion of the cat population that has relation to purebred cats to make it even likely to have a cat of particular breed. The breeds come from refinements of naturally occurring traits. In your case that is the gene for colorpoint which did originally come from the very first Siamese but it is widespread in the general cat population. It is very common for people to have cats that look like something without being that thing. My profile picture is a street moggy that happens to look like a snowshoe.

Actually, DNA tests for cats are fairly unreliable. Especially the commercial ones. UC Davis is probably the one with the best testing but it's fairly expensive. The problem with DNA testing cats is that if they rely on owners reporting their breed to determine the baseline it is unreliable to begin with. But also the genetic diversity of cats is very widespread and they don't have isolated populations with genetic indicators. Even human DNA testing for ancestry is sometimes questionable and that's with millions of samples and human populations that were in the same region for thousands of years.

Snowshoes are shorthair my profile photo is a lookalike with fairly decent accuracy. My male is a little more snowshoe on apperance and closer to it genetically based on his ancestory. Ragdoll would be the closest lookalike with long hair, colorpoint and white. But that's just in general terms.

Siamese and Snowshoe are shorthaired cats. Cats aren't going to be part any particular breed. You have a really cute domestic longhair. I love his little mustache.

He HAS point genes, he has. This gene comes from the siameses originally.

BUT if they tried to poinpoint(!) a pointed ancestor, it could be instead a ragdoll (they are fairly common) or a Birman or a pointed Persian = himalayan.
All three of these are also longhair.

If they did so, mentioning of siamese isnt necessary.

Did the test mention any of these longhaired breeds?

I think everyone has pretty much covered it but, another possible is a Neva Masquerade. He's a beautiful cat regardless of breed though.

Yes, but the Neva Masquerade is a relatively new breed, and rare in USA so the probability is pretty low there come byblows out from them.

If so, the probability is somewhat higher the hypothethical Ancestor was a pointed Siberian.
In Russia they frown upon pointed siberians, at best not register them, at worst pts them. But nowadays when Neva Masquerade is created and registered, they can often be registered as NM - and are allowed to live on. :)

But outside Russia, with our much lesser gene pool, we cant be so fussy. We do accept pointed siberians too, as long as they are healthy with good shape and psyche, etc...

Small breed in USA, but the theoretical chance is less minimal than with NM. :)
