It sounds like you are doing a great job utilizing the food and materials that are at hand, Friskie s pate style is formulated for adult and kittens that is all mine ate along with Fancy Feast pate and they are healthy adults today.

Maybe order KMR? You said that it would take a few days, but the kittens should do well until then. When it comes you can ether mix it in with what you are feeding now, or just mix up a saucer for them and let them drink that instead of water.

What I meant was even if I ordered it I wouldn't be able to get it any faster since I still need to go into town to pick it up. If I am already going into town I can just buy it at a store. ;) I called and asked, the feed store in town does sell it, so if my husband can get off early enough he'll get it or we will pick some up Saturday when he is off work.

My husband was able to pick up a tin of powdered kmr on his way home. I made some up and they lapped it up like it was the best thing in the world, lol. I've also shown my husband how to make up their food so he can make them a meal before he goes to work and I can sleep without worry. :D

Wonderful! Give them their milk 3-4 times a day for now, with wet food in between. Kittens need to eat about 6 times a day at this age.

Your husband is a sweetie - can we borrow him? :)

Ok, in case anyone is wondering a little more about the kittens. There are 3 boys and two girls, they weigh between 12.2-14.6 oz, their fangs are just coming in but not really all in yet some are still just breaking though. They are active and demanding when awake, they play with each other a little, demand food and cuddles, then sleep :catlove:. I've put up a small animal fence pen in front of the crate so when I open it and they all rush out they don't go far, but they do climb the fencing and escape into the room anyway. :climbcat: :gaah: I'll have to get going on kitten proofing the room as best that I can.

I’m in love with them already! :heartshape:

The baby teeth come in at about four weeks, so between that and their weights, they are between four and five weeks old, and their mama probably ran off because she was in heat again, poor thing.

Their weights are excellent, and they should weigh about two pounds apiece at eight weeks.

Do keep them together for at least 12 weeks for the social development, and they should be spayed and neutered at that age too.

Do you have a low-cost clinic in your area?

I'm not sure if there is any low-cost clinics around, not up here (there was one but I think they closed, they were horrible and likely killed my cat when she went to get spayed). I live in Northern Alberta, they have discount spay and neuter month in February at some of the vets offices, but that's only 20% off. Looking up the last cat I got spayed, even with 20% off, the total came to almost $300 with vaccinations :( (probably why a lot of people don't spay and neuter). I'm also not sure the vets around here will spay and neuter that young either, they do it at around 6 months.

I'll have to ask around, maybe contact the local shelters and see if they can help, or even take the kittens when they are old enough. One of the local shelters is partnered with a cat cafe that just opened in the city, kittens get snapped up quick there. They are pretty over populated with cats and kittens in their network of adoption locations, foster homes, and physical shelter though.

I don't know we'll figure something out even if we have to just get one or two fixed at a time.

I just thought I'd share some cuteness. They are growing and becoming stronger by the day and becoming a real handful, in more ways then one... These two I'm calling Brownie (male brown tabby) and Rogue (tortie).

BrownieAndRogue.jpg Rogue.jpg

No word on the other kitten that was taken by my husband's co worker, he works in a different department and my husband hasn't seen him around work since Monday (possibly on days off or working at a different shop location). The current guess is the mother was a black cat that one of the guys saw around, but haven't seen in about a week. The father (or at least one of them ;)) is likely the big medium-haired orange tabby my husband frequently sees roaming around who he says is about the size of my male Maine coon, so they might grow up to be big kitties.

Will you be getting them spayed and neutered soon? They are at just the right age now.

I actually just talked with the vet today, unfortunately they wont do spay or neuters until at least 6 months old.

Yikes, you'll probably have to separate the males and females for a month at least, maybe 2. Females can go into heat as early as 4 months, males may be fertile as early as 5 months, and although the boys usually don't have a clue at that age, they might figure things out :/.

You could explain the situation to the vet and see if they're willing to do even one group at a younger age (neutering the males is a less serious operation, maybe they'd be willing to do them first).

Unfortunately trying to explain anything to that vet is not really possible, he treats me like I am a child and don't know what I'm doing (I've had cats for over 30 years!). He is a good vet with the animals though, and unfortunately the easiest to access since it's in town meaning my husband can drop them off on his way to work and pick them up on his way home if need be.

I'll probably just have to keep the boys locked up until I can get them neutered. Waiting also means they will be ready when it's the 20% off spay/neuter month up here (assuming they still do that) so that will save me a couple hundred dollars.

Thank you and your husband for rescuing that adorable group there. Those fur babies are so lucky that your husband was in the right place at the right time- and that he is also an animal lover. :) Wet food would be a great start for those guys and they will have to be shown how to drink water from a bowl.

If they appear to be well fed, mom must not be too far away- hopefully somebody will catch her and give her a loving home. I always feel sorry for the moms.
