Monday. :sigh: I don't like Monday.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked 2.5 miles, and got ready for work
  • Must grab some groceries tonight (we were trying to only do grocery shopping every two weeks, but it's not working. We're going to go back to weekly)
Rick spent yesterday afternoon, working on straightening out the trench area to plant grass seed and going through the piles of dirt at the shed, trying to get tree roots out of the mess. He's taking them up to the garden and we'll burn them with the other brush. While he did that, I got the yard mowed. I can see that the grass is starting to die back a bit. Our walnut tree is starting to lose its leaves; it's the last to get leaves in the spring and the first to lose them in the fall.

And I got everything done yesterday that I managed not to do on Saturday.

@rgwanner What do you look for when you do home inspections for people to foster?

Boxes-
Callie went upstairs to the spare bedroom on Sunday because she became frightened when Ryan (nephew) was spraying Advantage outdoor spray around the yard and deck. You must use a hose and I don't have a spigot outside so he hooked it up the bathroom cold water nozzle that is used for the washing machine. I found her sleeping on a tote. I had bought 2 new litter boxes but hadn't had Hannah fill the one upstairs since Callie wasn't going up. I decided to place litter in the box and when I looked at it she had peed in it with no litter!I felt so badly. So I switched them, brought up the one from laundry room and washed out the one she had peed it. It's all good now.

Tea

Will do some reading I hope. Trying to play catch up on sleep.

Awwww. Even without litter, Callie knew what that box was for!

Rick had to go into work this morning to sign up new hires for joining the union. We got up at 4:45, which used to be our normal time for dragging our butts out of bed. I wish I could convince myself to get up at that time every morning because I get my walking in that way. He's now back home and the drywallers are working in the shed.
  • Breakfast for the kids, walked 4 miles, and got ready for work
  • My boss gave me a new graphics project to work on today. I love doing graphics projects!
  • We may hit Lowes tonight for Kilz to start painting. They said not to actually begin painting until Thursday, to give everything a good chance to dry. Thankfully, it's quite dry out right now. No rain is forecast for the rest of the week and we're in a pretty good dry and non-humid spell.
And that's pretty much it for me.

Yesterday was a lost day, spent six hours at the hospital with the elderly aunt while she waited for and recovered from an endoscopy. So today, I am playing catch up. The gym, grocery shopping and cleaning up my messy house. Then on to clean my mom’s house tomorrow.

I hear you on this. Aaron is working from home now and we get up later every day. We are exercising less and eating more because he's always looking for "snacks". I'm trying to slowly get back into the exercised thing. The many days of hot and humid weather over the summer didn't help either.

wrote list for Hannah, put in a few loads of smalls. She talked me into getting a Cheezit product that has Cheezits, pretzels, M&Ms, and Cracker Jax popcorn.
I thought it sounded good.

Winchester Winchester , Mia6 Mia6 -- my ribs are doing better, bit by bit. thank you for asking! :D

the spices i 'put up' are bought in bulk, at a much better price than those tiny little spice bottles at the retail stores. i use them for cooking and baking. i use oxygen absorbers in the jars, so they seal up...like when canning...you hear the toink within 24-48 hours, and know the jars have sealed. otherwise, i wouldn't be able to use them up before the spices started losing potency.

today i've done some printing. i'll wash the dishes, scoop the litter boxes, and spend some time on some planning.

I'm tired and could go back to bed this morning.
  • Breakfast for the kids and got ready for work
  • Hair appt this afternoon right after work
And that's pretty much it for my Thursday.

Mia6 Mia6 , I've seen that Cheez-it product and it's quite tasty!
micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom Thanks for explaining how you did your spices.

I was so not in the mood but I cleaned my mom’s house that was beyond dirty, did two loads of her laundry and mowed the lawn. I blame my poor disposition today on the flu shot I had yesterday.

susanm9006 susanm9006 Flu shots can do that to you. So can shingles shots; I had my second shingles shot a couple weeks ago and it really knocked me for a loop. The first one wasn't bad at all, but that second one was nasty. I hope you'll be feeling better soon.
  • Breakfast for the kids and got ready for work
  • Still working on a graphics project at work
  • I need to walk over to the grocery store at lunch today to get apple cider. I'm making apple cider doughnuts this weekend and also a cider-braised stuffed turkey breast on Sunday.
  • Rick will put the sample of Luxe Lilac on the shed wall today; if we like it, we'll hit Lowes tonight for two gallons of the paint.

Slept in a bit this morning; Amber Louise was not amused and was screeching tll we finally dragged our butts out of bed. Amber has taken over the "Starving here! Feed me NOW!" spiel since Ms. Pepe passed. Our little quiet ghost has turned into the Screaming Cat from Hades. Pepe taught her well.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, and am sitting back here with my morning coffee. I must scoop boxes.
  • We're going over to take care of my sister's cat clan this morning, then I'm taking Dear Richard out to breakfast, and then we're hitting Lowes for paint. We both like the Luxe Lilac sample on the wall of the McShed, so that's what we're going with.
  • Do a load of kitty linens this afternoon. That load is basically pillowcases and all the blankies they use around the house.
  • Do a quick vacuum and Swiffer about the house
  • And go back over to my sister's to give the clan their supper tonight. When we go over, I give them their canned food, change all the water in the dishes, and then wash the food dishes. Top off all the dishes filled with dry food. While I'm doing that, Rick is going around the house and attic, scooping boxes. When we've taken care of all that, then it's time to pay attention to the kids. Harley ends up in the my lap for a while, then i go up to the attic to hang out with Maisie. And now they have Maggie and she just loves attention, too. The rest of the gang don't care about anything as long as they've been fed. They have seven cats, four boys and a girl about the house, and two girls in the attic. (I think that, when I retire, I'm going to start a cat-sitting business! Strictly cats, no other animals.)

Winchester Winchester What a brood your sister has!! I've been thinking of doing some cat sitting myself. Callie is so sweet; she likes other kitties if I were to have one here.
I like the color you've chosen for the McShed walls, so pretty!

Rested quite a bit. Really miss the Vincie girl and Callie does as well. She looks out the slider a lot. Wish I could tell her she won't be coming home.

Thanks Mia6 Mia6 . I'll post some shed pictures when the painting is finished.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher. Rick stripped the bed and put the sheets in the washer.
  • I have three loads of laundry to do today.
  • Must go to my sister's to care for the cat clan there.
  • When I get back, I'm making apple cider doughnuts. Or apple juice concentrate doughnuts, as the case may be. How can you call something "apple cider" when there's not a drop of cider in the things?
  • Do some work outside this afternoon
  • Visit with Rick's mother tonight
One thing I do not have to do is mow the yard. We've had a little over 2 inches of rain thus far in September. The grass is already starting to die off for the summer. Maybe one or two more mowings and then the mower can be cleaned and put away for the cold weather.

  • So glad Hannah is coming in as pain levels are high but that's just how it is in autumn with fluctuating temps and me doing some dumb things I should not have. Yesterday was my birthday and Nicole made a nice dinner and loaded me up with Bath&Body Works 3 wick candles and hand soaps; teas, money and a yummy cake from Giant Eagle.

micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom How are you doing?

Just finished a visit by a local contractor that I will probably be hiring to remodel my master bath. It is in original (aweful!) 1960 condition and it desperately needs updating for accessibility. Willow, who has been so good this last year, went into full meltdown after he left, running, howling, hiding and then running again. So I am trying to sit quietly for a while and talk to her which usually calms her down. Once she is settled I have laundry and groceries to run to my mom.

I also need to get my bathroom remodel. I'm sure it is going to be real expensive. Yesterday my sister came over and I took a shower. For the first time I could not get out of the tub by myself. I am lucky she was there to help me. I need to get a walk in bathtub. Good luck with your bathroom.

Thanks. Yeah. It is expensive. I feel fortunate that I can get in and out of the shower or tub just fine now but at 68 I know that could change at any time. So better to get it done now rather than wait.
