GOOD MORNING, AFTERNOON, OR EVENING!!!!

Have you ever tried to gain or lose weight to fit into a frock or outfit or some other reason? How did that go for you?

Back in the day I had an opportunity to do some catalogue modeling, but I had to lose 5 pounds.
I weighed 108 but the agency said I should be
about 103. I tried and tried, starving myself, but
just couldn't do it and would not resort to laxatives or

diuretics. A friend of mine auditioned for the part of
Sandy in the musical Grease. This was when I lived
in Florida. She did really well but they told her she
was too thin for the role. :dunno:

So how about you?

Many years ago I wanted to lose a couple of pounds before going on holiday. The fad then was the Cabbage Soup Diet so I thought I would give it a go. Actually it wasnt too bad, only lasted a week and I lost 11 pounds. The downside was that I very quickly put the weight back on one I started eating normally again and I cant stand the smell of cabbage amymore. It was a one off for me. Good holiday though.

That diet is back in again. Hannah was on it for 2 days trying to get her wedding dress to zip. Finally she said can't do it and bought a new dress.

I remember when my mother-in-law was on that diet - I actually liked the soup and went there willingly just to eat it. ;)

The one time I gained a considerable amount of weight was my freshman year of college. It was probably being away from home, eating pizza late at night and a few too many beers. I spent the summer dieting and exercising determined to go back my sophomore year to my original weight. Mission accomplished!

Neely: I just can't imagine you ever drank beer.
I also liked the soup. My sister went on that diet and she used to make the soup.

Not really. I've tried to lose weight (never gain), and sometimes lost, sometimes didn't, but not to fit into any outfit or for any reason other than I needed to lose.

I tried twice to fit in a dress. It was a failure. I have also spent my entire life trying to look "normal" to the point of having eating disorders. Last year, I was diagnosed with a condition called lipedema. At least I know why starvation and extreme exercise did next to nothing.

I had a dress that I had for years but it never fit. It finally fit a couple of months before I had weight loss surgery. Then I dropped more weight and it was too big. I've never tried to lose weight just to fit into an outfit.

I've become very anti-dieting industry, so I try not to make a big deal of my weight anymore. I don't want to give in to the unneeded pressure from a society obsessed with how much weight I carry.

I'm surprised you don't have a thyroid problem after doing that.
After a shocking weight gain in 2014, it was one of the first things my doctor checked. It was surprisingly normal.

PSA: If you think your legs do not look normal, carry your weight in your legs (and, possibly, your arms), and struggle with your weight regardless of diet and exercise, look up lipedema. It is possible that you have it: a vascular specialist can diagnose you. If you do have it, it is better to try and control it before it gets out of hand. Thankfully, I am holding steady at a size 14/16 pant size.

Thank you for that. I did look it up, but this isn't the case for me. My entire body is at a size 12.

LOL, I was young and adventurous but did not make it a regular habit. I rarely have a beer now because it gives me a migraine.
