Just over a month ago, I was still in the throes of a (short and comparatively easy but still stressful) cat introduction. Now, those two she-devils are conspiring against me.

They have joined forces to get me out of bed. I woke to the feeling of a soft kitty paw patting at my hand in front of me, gently (but very insistently) reminding me that it's time for breakfast (it wasn't, by the way). I just groaned and tucked my hand out of reach of persistent little kitty paws... only to feel another paw patting my other hand, behind my back. Another morning I woke up feeling kind of weird, and rolled over to see two pairs of eyes staring intently.

They also team up to make me feel profoundly weird in the bathroom. My bathroom is small and very narrow. They like to sit between me and the door, one kitty against each wall, and just... watch. They actively follow me in there. Bathroom time has somehow become a family social event for them. They'll even groom each other in there.

My little family is cute and warm, if somewhat lacking in any sense of boundaries.

I have a L-shaped desk in my office. If I am on the computer at my desk and it is within about 30 minutes of "dinner time," I have our 4 cats surrounding me. Three will be on my desk with one blocking my view of the monitor, and the fourth will be on the back of my chair.

I also get the early morning breakfast reminder. Starting as early as 5 am, Lexi starts pawing at me. She does her darndest to pull the cover right off of me.

It's fantastic that they're getting along so well after such a short period of time, united in their desire to tease and torment Mom!

Phoenix is the first to sound off every morning while it's still dark, but the other cats are always near... Crackhead usually on the bed next to me and Tiger sprawled on the rug below, tearing away at my slippers. I stall a bit in rising, just to let 'em know who's boss, but they "vibe me out" in an effort to get me into the kitchen, where I routinely open a tin of Friskies and give 'em their morning meal. I keep dry food on the dining room table 24/7, but these kittehs want the canned stuff once the sun slants over the Dragoon Mountains. Sometimes I'll make 'em wait a short while, lying back on my bed in defiance or dallying in the bathroom, but they press me like cowboys... eventually herding me toward the kitchen, kittehs on all sides, LOL. Rowdy Yates had NOTHIN' on these kittehs for riding herd, they are slick in their teamwork... :runningcat:

Haha! Welcome to the world of more than one cat household! It is never a dull day. Nuh-ah!

In my house it is Bourbon who wakes me up, but not with a soft tap like what your cat does, but a swat on the face that gets harder and stronger if I refuse to budge. Then when she succeeds in rousing me from bed at 1am in the morning, I'd find the other cats already standing by the kitchen door - one tapping on the cabinet where their food is stored, as if I forgot where they are kept. All these while Bourbon stands behind me - seemingly ready to pounce if I attempt to go back to bed without feeding them first.

They also work together to 'exfoliate' my hands. Both are lickers and while Mischief's tongue isn't so bad, Millie's is like sandpaper coated with ground glass. It hurts like the dickens when they both get in a grooming mood and want to include me.

But they just look so happy and content when I let them lick me as well as each other; it's not uncommon in my household for one cat to lick the other, and the cat being groomed then licks one of my hands so I'm included in the proceedings. I just can't push away those sweet little faces who just want to make sure that their servant smells like them and is clean enough that they won't be embarrassed if other cats see me!

And then, of course, is the watching:

I feel like they're observing me like I'm a zoo exhibit...

i love it how you describe them waking you up for breakfast, thinking its one cat patting you and to resolve it you move your hand away only to have the other cat patting your other hand behind your back lmao. :flail: And the bathroom visits  sounds like those two ktties will keep you on your toes :) Its a good thing they are a team, and i guess they are including you in their group making sure you are with them and they are with you all the time and in their sights :) Maybe they are looking out for you :)
