I can’t wait. As a Mom I have been concerned since he left on Easter Sunday. I know his girlfriend is looking forward to his finishing.

He is awesome and what a wonderful adventure for him. Stuff you have to do while you are young and strong.

Wow that's awesome! I was wondering how it was going. I can't imagine how happy you will be when he finishes! Until his next adventure right? ;)

I think he will probably to broke to consider a new adventure for awhile! He has to find another job when he gets home. I imagine his nest egg of 2 years salary has taken a beating.

Nate ended his hike about 250 miles short of his goal. He decided to call it quits when he and the other hikers with him were caught on a ridgetop (10000 feet elevation) by a snow storm with hurricane force winds. He and the 2 hikers he was with decided to try to get over the ridge before the storm hit, but didn't make it in time. In a way it was good that they didn't because they ran across the 3rd hiker trying to set up camp in an exposed area near the top of the ridge. They talked her into going farther down to a more sheltered location with them. When my son decided to quit because there was another storm predicted to hit about the time they were due to go over another pass, he back tracked the way they had come. He said the area the 3rd hiker had been setting up camp was a HUGE snow drift - her tent would have been completely buried if she had stayed. He visited us yesterday and truthfully I am thrilled he didn't tell me some of the things that happened while he was on the trail until now!!
