Happy September! It's almost comfortable weather time for us! :bliss::woohoo::jive::banana2:

What is your favorite thing about September?

For me it's probably having everyone elses kids back in school. :paperbag: I can take my kids places without crowds. :anticipation:  The close second is the better weather for outdoor activities. It can still be hot here into September. But generally the weather is better. I don't need true fall yet. Just not the oppresive heat and humidity of July and August! :agree:

I would say cooler weather, but I live in middle Georgia...so that doesn't happen until, oh, December or so, if we are lucky. :bawling2:

I love starting to decorate for fall and at least pretend that it will be cooler. I have clothes that are still packed away from when we moved down here that I have simply never gotten a chance to wear because it never got cold enough. Come to think of it, they may no longer fit, either...:paperbag:

It's still summer with most of AZ in under an excessive heat warning. The news says we (in the mountains) are in the 80's, but I'd like to know what delusional world they are living in.
Although, it's been in the 60's during the night with less bugs, so I can leave my windows open at night. It usually doesn't get nice until Halloween.

It's still pretty toasty here in September, but I always get excited when it cools down enough that I don't need to keep oven mitts in my car anymore. I'm surprised I haven't burned off my fingerprints yet from getting into a hot car and turning the key in the ignition, putting on my seat belt, etc. ;)

After a summer of waking at 5:15 am every day to go to the lake, after Labor Day it is back to staying up later and sleeping in until 8:00.

I can't say there's anything I like about it.

- Summer ends and school starts.
- Weather starts to get colder.
- Days are shorter. Darkness creeps in earlier and earlier.
- Garden gets leggy and withered. Weeds go to seed.
- Kids waiting for the bus wake me up every morning at 6:30. Insane.
- New fall TV schedule hasn't started yet.
- Football. Football. Football. More football.
- Can't wear summer clothes and it's too hot to wear fall clothes.

There's more if I think about it.

The orange one is a Leukospermum. They're native to South Africa and thereabouts. The pink ones are, of course, azaleas. They haven't flowered like that in years. That particular plant was there when I bought the house, twenty years ago.
The double impatiens is amazing... I bought a tiny pot of it at a roadside stall many years ago and have been taking cuttings from it ever since. Just about everyone I know has one.
