Mine is a lighthearted post and in no way complaining as every cat is unique : however as Gracie approaches 3 years (can’t believe the ball of fluff I bought home is nearly 3), I’ve realised I’ve never heard her meow ! Now she chirps, trills , squeaks (yep she does ), growls and hisses However has never meowed !! My ex claimed she did at him however I never heard her - and most of what he said turned out to be a lie anyway

Anyone else has a cat who is missing an apparent cat trait ?

My two cats Barley and Bourbon do not meow as well, and when they do or attempt to there is no sound coming out. It is cute to look at.

My Bourbon gives out this bark sound sometimes, like a dog. I do not know if it is a cough or what.

But Bourbon and Barley chirp and thrill as well.

My other 2 cats are as vocal as most cats are.

Charlie has been a squeaker since kittenhood. I remember wishing he'd do that forever-apparently my wish was granted! He's very vocal, though-both cats are.

Glad I’m not the only one ! When she was a kitten I had to google her sounds (never owned a cat before ) as was worried when she just chirped and trilled ! I’ve read they only meow at humans so maybe she doesn’t need to With me !! I’m always there on call

My cat Zoe is like that. Sometimes she lets out a bit of a meow but usually it's just a little squeak. It's so cute. As she's got older, she does make sounds more than she used to, but never a real cat-sounding meow.

Now her brother Rico, on the other hand, got enough of a voice box for both of them. He never stops talking.

Some cats meow a lot, others not so much. Neko-chan is very chatty but my previous cat just squeaked and purred.

Arnold is VERY vocal. He has many different types of meows. These include two of my favorites, that always make me laugh: the long drawnout impatient meow and the final....... desperate pathetic, feel sorry for me meow, (at which point I always cave and give him what he wants).

Greg on the other hand seldom meows and when he does, it's a very quiet, almost timid sound. (Laughable from a 20 lb cat). Greg uses eye contact when he wants something.

He will find me, sit down in front of me and stare directly and intently into my eyes. Its my job to decipher his message and meet the need (s). Usually it is give me a treat, feed me, let me outside, or he wants a caress or tummy rub.

Two brothers, one meows the other doesnt.
