So, my moggy went blind suddenly 1 month and 1 week ago. He was suspected to have retrobulbar optic neuritis and was put on prednisolone. We opted out of an MRI as they would not be able to treat it if it was a tumour (not operable, and we don't have radiotherapy for pets in my country). Yesterday he had a check up with the neurologist and ophthalmologist, and they saw that he had chorioretinitis in one eye.
My moggy has FIV and I read that FIV is one of the most common viral causes of chorioretinitis, so I don't know if it's just the FIV that's causing the chorioretinitis due to suppressed immune function due to the prednisolone, or if the chorioretinitis is linked to the optic neuritis, thus increasing the possibility of an inflammatory/infectious process instead of a tumour. Does anyone have any knowledge about this?
