Hey friends,

So my current situation at home has changed. I currently have a 20 month cat named Jiggy who is the most harmless and gentlest cat I have ever come across. Doesnt bite or bring out the claws onto human flesh. Fast forward to now, I have brought in a my sister's senior cat into the house and she is such a bitch. Tortitude at its finest. But over time, Billie (senior cat) is tolerating Jiggy but if she gets too close, Billie attacks her. And everyday poor Jiggy keeps trying to make friends with Billie and she is not having a bar of it! So, I'm thinking of bringing a third kitten into the mix to be Jiggy's friend and Billie can just enjoy her solitary time that she loves.

My question is, is three cats a good idea? I can afford it and I'm a full time carer who is always home. My house is a double storey with 5 bedrooms and I have a medium to large backyard. Just wanting to hear some opinions about anyone who has brought an additional cat home on top of having multiple cats already.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

It doesn't necessarily work the way you are thinking. One willing playmate and one unwilling playmate does NOT mean the kitten will only bother the willing playmate. The new kitten may well jump all over Billie and stress him out.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do this, but given that it is unclear how a kitten will impact your dynamic, I think you should only do it if you, Paris, want a third cat, not to improve the dynamic.

Felix and another cat I had a few years ago used to fight constantly. Blood shed and fur flying. I added another cat but not by choice. She was a rescue and when she came into the mix, the whole household was as quiet as it could ever be. She used to correct both of them and so the fighting stopped. I got very lucky with that. The situation could have went so many ways.

I agree with A ArtNJ .

I do personally want a third cat but I know that this might not end up picture perfect like you said but your response was really helpful, thanks.
