So first... Is it pop or soda? What do you call your carbonated beverage?

Which do you prefer and why?
Pepsi or Coke?
Sprite or 7Up?
What brand of Ginger Ale do you like?

What "off flavor" pop do you like, if any? ex: Mountain Dew, Dr.Pepper, etc...
Do you like Crush? Which is your favorite flavor?

I usually say pop.
I prefer Pepsi, there's something about the after taste of Coke I'm not crazy about, but I will drink it without complaining, I'm not a "die hard" "must be Pepsi" person.
Out of Sprite and 7Up, I don't really have a preference.
I usually get Canada Dry or Schweppes ginger ale (what ever is on sale)
I really like Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper and Cherry coke.
Not a fan of Root Beer.
I love all the Crush flavors that are available in my area. (Orange, Cream Soda and Grape)
I also love the Pop Shoppe brand. They have the standard, Cream Soda, Cherry coke etc... which are great, but they also carry a Lime flavor, which is not a common flavor where I'm from and it's super tasty.

Overall, I love pop. I don't drink it all the time, but we always have some in the house.

  1. Soda.
  2. Pepsi versus Coke, depends on my mood. Pepsi if I want it sweeter, Coke if I don't want a sugar bomb. But I am not super picky on it 99% of the time.
  3. Sprite vs 7up. I like the Sprite flavor slightly better then 7up. But I like cherry 7up better than plain Sprite.
  4. Ginger Ale. Canada Dry is the only option on this one. I don't like schweeps at all and the off brands just aren't right. I prefer the small glass bottles over canned and canned over plastic bottled. It's funny that the rest are a toss up but this is clear cut.
I personally prefer the small batch, real cane sugar sodas over the big company ones.

We have a few smaller counter service places with craft sodas on tap. Some from local companies that have beer as their main product but also do soda as a non alcoholic option. Jersey Mike's has one or two at a few locations too.

That sounds yummy! I don't think we have that here, I've never seen it.:(
One that is really good is getting prickly pear syrup and adding it to Sprite. Really any drink mix syrups added to soda can work. I usually check out the Disneyland Drink options and try to make similar at home because they really have some good flavor combinations. The prickly pear was one they had in carsland when it first opened a few years back. You can usually find their drink options on blogs or posts about upcoming special offers.

I usually call it pop, but I do call it soda sometimes. I do not drink a lot of it. I do drink more of it in the summer, though. Pepsi, 7up, and none. I like Vanilla Coke. I wish it were Vanilla Pepsi, so I make it myself sometimes. Root beer is okay as long as it is not Muggs. I think most orange pop is okay. I had one once that I thought was not good. I just do not remember what it was. All in all, Pepsi with a lime wedge is probably my favorite. I also prefer pop to be room temperature unless it is a very humid, hot day.

It's soda. :D

Real sugar Pepsi or Mexican Coke (also has real sugar)

Sprite/7up? Neither. not a lemon/lime fan

Seagram's ginger ale

I'm not a big soda drinker. I rarely have one. When I do, it's always regular. NEVER diet. I detest artificial sweeteners.

No off brands

No fruit flavors like orange, grape, etc

I 'd rather have iced tea or flavored sparkling water than soda.

Yup, not only are artificial sweeteners worse for you than real sugar, I don't care who you are, you will never be able to convince me that "it tastes the same". It's gross!

I agree. I'd rather drink less of the real stuff.

Soda
Coke, never Pepsi
Neither Sprite or Mountain Due
Nor Ginger Ale
Love Root Beer!
Never ever never artificially sweetened.

Having said the above, I don't drink soda. I'm on a medication that makes all of them taste metallic. At one point I didn't drink it for gosh, IDK 5-10 years? Then went off it and was so happy to be able to drink a Coke again now and then. Now I'm back on it as a component of another medication to that's that again. No big deal, it's better off not to drink it. I don't miss it this time around.

I usually call it pop, but I'll say soda if I run into someone who is all "what's pop?"
I never really liked cola, so neither.
Not really a big lemon lime fan, but I don't really have a preference when I do decide to drink it.
Vernors or Canada Dry.

Off flavor? Peach, Faygo makes it. Faygo actually has a massive variety and it's made here in Michigan so I can find it everywhere.

Anything diet is just disgusting.

A&W Root Beer>all.

I say soda. Most people here say pop though.

I try not to drink sugary sodas too often. When I do it's usually real ginger ale (real sugar, real ginger bits) or other specialty sodas. I usually get Reed's but if there's another brand that looks good I'll give it a try. I almost never have a big brand soda (but I did recently buy a case of orange vanilla Coke because I was curious about the flavor and it was on clearance, so I've been having one a week until they're gone).

I used to drink diet 7-Up and I liked it, but diet cola is terrible. I also liked Fresca, which is a diet soda. I haven't had either one in years so I don't know what I'd think of the flavor now. I generally don't like artificial sweeteners.

I drink a lot of La Croix though. In fact I'm having one right now! I also got a case of some other brand of unsweetened flavored seltzer at Costco that's pretty good, but I'm not at home so I can't look at the brand name. I don't like Bubly or most other brands, usually.

I also get an Ocean Water (lemon-lime soda (not sure which brand they use) mixed with blue coconut syrup) every time I'm near a Sonic. I don't know why I like it so much more than most sodas but that combination is the best. But at most restaurants I get sweet tea, not soda.

Most people here, or at least in my part of the UK, tend to call both pop and soda "fizzy drinks", so that's only what I've called both. I never used to like fizzy drinks, though lately I've come around to them and do enjoy a Fanta, 7-Up, Coke and Orangina.

IMO, it depends on what you're used to drinking. I don't drink soda very often, but for many years I've had mostly diet sodas, they taste just fine to me. Whenever I drink regular soda it tastes like I'm drinking liquid with about six teaspoons of sugar added. :spew:

And now to answer a couple of questions asked by the thread starter: :yess:
People where I live usually say pop instead of soda, but I have to be different, so I say both. I prefer diet pepsi but I will also drink diet coke.

I like the Dasani brand or Perrier over La Croix. But La Croix does in a pinch. Store brands of sparkling water are usually just not right; Bubly and Bai are okay. Have you tried the San Pellegrino sparkling waters? Not the ones with fruit but the Essenza line? They are fairly good but the flavors are a little weird tangerine and wild strawberry or dark Marcello cherry and pomegranate.

I tend to drink sparkling waters and iced teas. Lately I've been having diet Cokes just because stress and caffeine but slowly going back to mostly tea and water.

The only soda I will drink is Cream Soda. I prefer the Walmart brand over A&W because it is much smoother. However, I rarely drink it. It's not a sugar issue, as I make and drink a lot of sweet tea, I just don't like soda.

It's pop.

I don't really drink it much, though fiancé lives on Diet Mtn Dew.

I will occasionally have those Izze drinks - do they count as pop? Or Green River around St Patrick's Day. Mostly I just drink flavored water. I buy Soleil, which is cheaper off brand LaCroix or Dasani or whatever's on the best sale. I'll also get the Signature Select liter sized flavored water, which does have artificial sweeteners in it, so I'm trying to drink it a bit less.

By whatever name, it's persona non grata here, because it's really bad for health and the environment in those throw-away plastic bottles.
