Hello everybody, I’m new, I speak spanish so I apologize for my english. I was hoping you could help me, I’ve been feeding my cat a homemade raw food but I’ve seen that the stools are really dark but on the catinfo.org page they say that the stools should be lighter, I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong because I’m doing everything they say in their recipe. Please help me I’m very worried. Thank you!

Hello! Welcome!!
When I was feeding raw, my cat had less poop than when he eats commercial food, but the color was darkish. I think unless your vet says there is a problem, you are ok.

Color of stool will depend on the muscle meat being fed. Darker meats will result in darker stool. Lighter meats wil result in lighter colored stool. I often get marbled poops in the littler box. :)

I feed my Theodore raw beef from "Blue Ridge Beef". They have already blended it with what cats need. Theo's stools are dark. I would not attempt mixing my own. BRB has a large market and I feel safer letting them do the mixing. Recommended by the breeder I got Theo from.

Hola! Como estas tu gato? My kitty always has light colored stool unless I give her a little dry or canned food. Should not matter what color the meat is. I think processed food comes out dark!

When feeding raw, the color of the stool it most definitely depends on whether the meat is light or dark. Since my cats have both daily, their stool is usually marbled. :)

Okay, maybe this is your experience but not mine! I have fed my girl many varieties of Primal, Instinct, Rad Cat & Darwin's and she has had light colored, small, hard stool. After I clip her nails I give her a few pieces of BabyCat dry kitten food for a reward. This and any canned food makes her stool turn darker. The only meat I don't recall trying is beef. I guess cats are different!
