Good morning!

Do people still go to a movie theater/cinema to watch movies? What's the next movie you want to go and see?

I hardly ever watch movies, partly because my closest cinema is a 90 minute drive from here, partly because I'm not good at sitting still for a full length movie.

A lot of people have been telling me how good the new Lion King is. I'm kind of interested, but I don't know if it would be worth the three hour round trip-two hour sit in a darkened theater that watching it would involve.

Another movie I'm interested in is the new Tarantino movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Maybe I could sit still for that one.

What movies do you want to see?

I used to love going to the movies but haven't been since I contracted RSD/CRPS in 2000 because it's too difficult for me to sit that long. Now a lot of theaters have reclining, comfortable seats so I would like to try it again. We have an old theater in town that will be showing La Dolce Vita and serving Gelato and I would love to see that

EDIT: We also have a drive-in and I would love to go there, like old times.

I haven't gone in decades. I think the last movie I saw in theater was the original version of The Lion King. The loud volume of movies hurts my ears really bad :cringe: I just wait for movies to come out on DVD and then just borrow a copy from the library.

The last movie I saw in a theater was “The Martian” in 2015 (the book was good, too). Before that, it had been years. We probably won’t go to a theater again. We find a lot of rude people, both kids and adults; the volume is usually too loud; and The Spouse can’t make it through a movie without a visit to the facilities. :)

I'm like you, Norachan Norachan . I have a hard time sitting still that long. The loud volume is too much for me, too. But I'm sure I'll be going with the grandkids to see the new Troll movie when it comes out.

I have not been to the movies this year, but I did see three movies that I remember in 2018.

1) Cat Video Fest, which was a collection of viral cat videos
2) Won't You Be My Neighbor? - the Mr Rogers documentary
3) Crazy Rich Asians - because one of my favorite singers had a song in it.

I enjoyed them all! I'm usually just too lazy or don't have the time to make it to the theater, so it really has to catch my interest to get me to make the effort.

It's been years for me too  I would actually like to go, but I haven't been interested in any of the recent movies. Either it's more super hero movies, biopics, overrated/overblown politically correct films, or remakes of the same thing.

I think the last movies I have actually seen in theatre that I remember is I Am Number Four - which actually wasn't too bad, sort of slow at the beginning but picked up really well towards the end. And Crazy Stupid Love, which I only went to see because my coworker friends (Who all love Romcoms) wanted to see. It was a get-together after work. I had a really nice time with them just fine but it it is a Crazy Stupid Movie.

Anyway, I honestly hope something will come up again soon that would catch my eye, as I'd like a movie outing again sometime.

We just saw The Lion King and we saw Aladdin when it was in theaters. It's a treat for us because it is so expensive. We usually go to a matinee and sneak in our own snacks and drinks. We usually wait for the movies to come out on Redbox, however.

No, the cinema is far too expensive for me. I have Netflix DVDs and that lets me get the international films I much prefer to the domestic stuff. Though I'm not a Disney fan, I would like to see "The Lion King" because I do love the story and I've seen the original animated film plus the stage presentation (twice).

Going to an actual movie theater is one of my least favorite things to do. I let my mom and step-dad take my kids to the movies. They enjoy them. For me it's too noisy and crowded. If there is really something I want to see; I can wait till I can watch it at home in comfort and pause it for breaks or whatever.

I rarely watch movies at home though. If I do find one I like; I'll watch it a bunch of times. I'm just very picky on content.

*Me too, on all of the above, except I don't have kids. I think I have most of the lines in "Lord of the Rings" memorized.*

My daughter saw it and gave it a thumbs up.

I love watching the old films on TCM. DH and I enjoy going to the movie theater but only on Discount Day. We usually don't agree on the movie so don't go that often. However, we may go to see Blinded by the Light. It got great reviews and besides, how could anything be that bad with Bruce Springsteen music in it? ;)

I watch everything, movies and tv shows, online. I have a site that Avast says is safe and so far have had no issues with it. The only problem is I have to wait a bit for them. TV series usually get uploaded the next day but movies takes awhile for a good quality to come up. Right now I'm waiting for The Lion King, Men in Black III and the new Spiderman to be better than cam.

It has been years since I went to a movie theatre. It was never one of my favorite things to do anyway, I would only go if there was something that I really wanted to see. I now wait a bit to see it at home. The last time I went to a theatre was in 2004, I went to see the Passion of the Christ. Even then it had been a number of years. I think before that the last time I went was in the mid 90's and that was Dead Man Walking.

We go a couple to a few times a year, depending on what is playing. Always a late show and always on cheap nights. (Sundays and Tuesdays are cheap nights in our area.) I cannot take the crowds and we like to save money, but we also enjoy a date night at the movies every now and again. We also get coupons for popcorn or drinks from a rewards program.

The last movie we saw at the theater was "Spiderman: Far From Home." Before that was "Avengers: Endgame" and "Captain Marvel." Our next will likely be "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," although I really would love to see the Downton Abbey movie in the theater.

I haven't been to a theater in decades, and drive in's are almost obsolete. All teenagers-with-one-thing-on-their-minds aside, drive in's were a lot of fun, especially if you had a big group of people and a big truck with no cap and didn't mind parking backwards
The new Lion king movie looks interesting but we'll probably wait til it comes out on DVD or Blue Ray or X-ray or whatever the "thing" is now. We don't watch movies a lot, but when we do it's usually something old.

I haven't gone in a while, but my husband and I have a few gift cards. We want to go see Toy Story 4, just haven't gone yet, The Lion King would be cool too (yes we like "kids" movies!).
I honestly don't even know what else is playing right now.

Kids movies are usually better and more fun anyhow.
I still love Cool Runnings, I think that movie is so funny. And Pinocchio and Peter Pan will always be favorite
The newer movies I've been disappointed, it's as though acting has been replaced by special effects. The movies can be good, but sometimes good acting beats out computerized effects.
