Good morning! I'm taking over today for Pam (@Winchester ).

Do you collect anything? When did you start collecting and how many do you have? Out of all of them do you have a favorite piece?

I collect handbags. I have between 15-20 of them. I have always had a thing for them since I was pretty young. I have always had a few at least but didn't really start a "collection" until about 2 years ago.

I think this one is my favorite:

Love that!!!

I collect paper weights. My fave is a pink pyramid shaped one that was damaged a bit last week because I was using it on the deck and we had a storm that blew the table onto the ground. A small piece broke off. I have
about 6 as I only just started doing this. Also anything light-house related.

I used to collect pewterware, jewelry and books, but got far too much stuff, so I stopped. I donated around a thousand books to an English-language parish here and switched to e-books, and gave around half of my jewelry to my nieces. I kept my favorite earrings.

I used to collect stamps and baseball cards when I was a kid, but my mother threw them all out when I was away in the service- including a Roberto Clemente rookie card. Now the only thing I collect is new aches and pains.

Oh Mom!!

I started to collect horse figurines a few years ago, but stopped after finding out I didn't really have the time to keep up with the cleaning routine.

I still have my late DH's record collection from when he was a teenager. Those are priceless.

Not me, but my husband collects the different kinds of prints on Dr. Pepper cans/bottles. He's been at it since he was in middle school.

I never really thought about it, but I probably have a handbag collections too. They are mostly Coach, with some Michael Kors and Kate Spade thrown in.

I collect items from the dairy that my father was a door to door milkman for. I have bottles, a few milkboxes, a calendar, a mini toy truck, a wooden case....

Christmas ornaments from places we visit a well as shot glasses from places we visit.

Wine. :paperbag:

I don't know if you can call it a collection, but I have wine glass issues. I like pretty wine glasses and have far too many.

I very selectively collect vintage pottery and blown glass pieces. I have rarely buy anything anymore but every couple years I find something that I want and have space for. Some gets rotated from storage to my display bookcases with the seasons. Others that I love the most stay out all year .

My father was a milkman back in the 30s and 40s, and he had a collection of bottles from various dairies- something like 40 or 50, he once told me. After he got married and moved out, but before he could retrieve them, his mother threw them all out. Many were from dairies that had gone out of business, and were irreplaceable.

You could maybe express in your will to have it donated to a museum, if that's of interest to you and the museum :)

Yes. You have some lovely pieces.

My DD is not a handbag girl at all. She has said that she doesn't want my collection. She might keep one for sentimental reasons. I told her to SELL them. Some of them will at least hold their value and some will go up in value. She can buy herself something nice from me.

I told her that if she gives them away, I will come back and haunt her. :eek3:

I have a collection of Salt & Peppers. It started when I was about 12 and we moved into our house. The older lady who lived there had several S&Ps. They were in a yard sale for maybe 10 cents. I could afford that. I still have some - one is a piano and the S&Ps are the top - they come out. I have toaster where the bread slices are S&Ps.

When I was in maybe my 30's I narrowed it down to cat S&Ps. People would give me them and I would buy some. I probably have 100 or so. What I don't have is any more room so several years ago I stopped.

I also have a collection of cat figurines, but again, no more room so I have stopped getting any more new ones. In my will a couple friends have the right to choose any cat-themed items. Anything not specifically willed to someone is to go to my Shelter to put in their store. (That includes everything, not just cat stuff)

And I have a collection of cats of course, but that is another thread.
