Hi everyone. The large amount of writing is to prevent answers that are sure to come up. Things like "Just drive down to the vet and get some medication" I am a young American who has been stuck in the Philippines for about a year. To understand the situation you must understand the country. I live in a small barrio in Pampanga, Pets in any place other then tourist locations are not considered family here beside exceptions. In fact there doesnt seem to be much respect for pets at all and a severe lack of understanding or education about animals beside eating them. (Important for this next part.) There are no vets, yes in tourist areas and more wealthy areas of the Philippines you can find such things. But not here and if you are in those areas these things are expensive.

Another prefix to prevent the "If you knew you were poor why would you take animals in." Stray, homeless, dying animals on the street is a common occurrence for Dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and even children here. You see it everywhere. It is a sad normality that is ignored do to its everyday nature here. So my choice to take care of these kittens was either a must or they would die anyway.

The story, These kittens have a mom. She is not Neutered and anyone I have asked either don't understand what that is or why you would do it. She has had a kitten before and killed it. She has kittens a lot from what I heard and yet there are no other kittens around or cats for that matter. So when she had kittens this time I decided to take the little girls in. In the month I learned how to feed them and make them poop. The mom does feed them sometimes, 1 or 2 times a day only and sometimes she never comes back to do so. She also will randomly attack them at times and just leave again... At this point I completely separated the kittens and took 100% control. For about a week the kittens were pooping normally and got use to the food I fed them "There is no kitten formula so I feed them soft food I mush up with a little oil" But today "Like 40 min ago" They wouldn't poop, they stopped eating and when I tried to get one to poop I saw blood around her anus. Looking it up I came to the conclusion it was a type of worm and is probably pretty common since "In door" cat is not a thing here. I have always kept the kittens inside but the mom is hardly ever here. (It is the moms home but even before the kittens she only came here to eat and sleep.)

Because of all of these specific situations I figured it was probably just as normal for kittens here to have a much lower survival rate and without a vet probably can't help. Most articles are written for places like America, EU and such that have easy access to curing these problems. But I am not giving up. That is why I am here.

Is there anything I can do to help them be healthier and possibly save them with such a lack of resources? And is there home remedies for common problems found in kittens? Please leave any info that can help. Not just for the possible worm problem but alternatives to most kitten advice.

Here are a list of problems so far.
-The mom gave them fleas. The mom had often small little black fleas. They looked like beetles. Now the kittens have them and I have been picking them out but the eggs probably spread all over. (No flea collars or flea shampoo in local stores.)
-The fleas and the mom being a (More or less) street cat (though she has a home) Made me think the problem is warms.
-Their poop has always been a yellow color ever since the start (Not sure if thats normal)
its soft but not super liquidy.
-They are not eating much anymore and struggle when they try to poop, freaking out and meowing. 1 of them looked like they had torn or bleeding around the anus. She almost pooped but freaked. (Normally the would let me do this and be pretty calm)

What I do everyday
-I always check their paws and ears to see if they are cold or not.
-I try to feed them every 2-3 hours. I cant afford any milk replacers like baby formula and no cat formula and wont give them plain milk because I read that its bad. I am limited to small budget foods like fish and rice. So I mush up the fish and add a tiny bit of oil to help them poop.
-I try to help them go to the bathroom after every feeding.
-I clean the fleas I can find 2 times a day.
-I wash them with a warm wet rag. No human soap.
-I check their sleeping area for bugs and wash the cloth.

Hi. I wish I could help more, but I can tell you that kittens' poop that is yellowish in color (think mustard) and not firm is pretty normal.

Because of where you are located, some of the information on this web site (see link below) might not help, but there is a ton of helpful data in here that you might be able to use - such as making your own formula. Just take a look while you wait for more expert members to see your post.

Kitten-Rescue.com

I know that others who have taken care of kittens will come along soon, see your post, and offer some help that I just can't.

Please keep talking to us!!

FeebysOwner, I remember in the past some members from time to time would post a recipe for what they called, "kitten glop", where in a pinch one could make their own kitten formula using certain items around the home. I remember some mentioning "goat's milk" is very good for kittens and very well tolerated by them. Do you Ritzy feed the kittens using a tiny, say doll size bottle or syringe made for feeding liquids through? As far as the flea situation, is say, "Dawn" dish washing soap available for you, or maybe "baby shampoo?". I know that Dawn dish soap is safe for the kitten and given a bath in the soap and then after drying the fur, using a very fine toothed little comb ran through the fur will take out any remaining flea debris.
How old did you say this kitten was?

Hello and welcome! :wave3:

Thank you for trying to help these kittens. I understand the situation in the Philippines, however, it is sad.

How old are the kittens and how many?

Can you get a can of evaporated milk? Are you able to get chicken?
Are you able to get antibiotics?
Can you get eggs?

I am asking to see what you are able to get so that I can give you some ideas that may help.

Hey guys sorry its been a while, its gotten worse but they are alive. For a while everything was good. I got them to poop, they can pee by themselves but not poop alone still. I found A milk mix to feed them but getting them to drink it in anyway is hard... They wont lap it out of a small bowl and only the white one will drink it out of a little drip. The mother would still come every once and a while and feed them for a minute but that is about all. Sadly I think me letting her feed them was a very bad choice...

Here is why. Today I found the problem, So the white one started vomiting yesterday but just looked like their moms milk. I cleaned it and all good. They laid next to me and I gently rubbed their little bellies. Today the white one vomited again but still looked like nothing until the black one also vomited and I saw worms, a lot of them. White, big...

I looked up all the types of worms they could have and 1 was a perfect match to what I saw, no doubts. Roundworms. Them puking some up I read meant those worms are dying but I know already they laid eggs and the worm problem is just the beginning. Another problem where not having a vet is a problem. I looked for Mebendazole and other medicines for them online and the price for them converted to here is way to much. So I looked up home remedies but honestly don't know if they are safe for kittens "Not that they are okay.." but still... Pineapple juice, pomegranate seeds and vinegar. But those are home remedies for humans and kittens are vastly different with how their bodies absorb things.

I also know I might be infected as well from wiping their poop and giving them little kisses all the time. but at least I can try the home remedies and hope for the best. But for them I don't know what I can do... these are my baby girls D: They sleep on my shoulder and chest every night. I don't want to lose them they are the only things making my situation I am in have hope, keeping the bad thoughts away. I don't want to lose my baby girls ): I want them running around and hoping everywhere and attacking my feet...

Can you get human worm medicine at the pharmacy? I know it's pretty commonly available in tropical countries, although I don't know how much it costs. If you can, tell us what kind and we can find dosage instructions.

Also, can you get goat's milk?

And a comb to get lice out of human hair? That will work to comb the kittens for fleas too.

Most things we use for pets are human products, just used differently. So it's possible to improvise when you live somewhere without a lot of pet products.

You need to find a way to get the worm medicine or they will not make it. The worms will kill them. You cannot use home remedies like you mentioned. Those will be toxic to the kittens. I’m sorry things are so difficult for you. I hope you can find a way to get worm medicine for the kittens asap.

Did you look on Ebay? They have some Panacur options there for 450- 1000 PHP and free shipping. Not sure if that's too much or if the types offered would work. But I wanted to at least mention it and I bet someone here might be able to help with dosage and if it would work.
