I've JUST started "The Purrfect Murder," Mrs. Murphy #16. And read another couple of chapters of "Death by Didgeridoo," the book that I'm reviewing for the author. I really like it so far. I'll post my review of that one here, as well.

So I decided to read Lock Every Door by Riley Sager which is a pseudonym. She writes other books as well under a different name.

She has also written The Last Time I Lied and Final Girls.

EDIT: I just reserved the books above. They are coming from other
libraries to mine.:yess:

My library has both those in 2-book format, so let us know what you think of them, without spoilers, of course. ;)

I love, love, love, Lock Every Door by Riley Sager!
Jules, broke, recently unemployed and having a recent break-up with her boyfriend, gets a job apartment sitting in NYC's famous Bartholomew Apt. Building. She is being paid $1000.00 per week in cash for 3 months.
Does it sound to good o be true? I think so!!

After reading two true crime books in a row - about the Manson murders - I decided to indulge in some cozy mysteries - the Stoneybrooke Mysteries by Eryn Scott. Three down (enjoyable), two to go.
Some years ago I read a book about the Canadian serial killers Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo. After that I went with something very light.

You'd need it after reading about those two! I still find it incomprehensible that she'd drug her own sister so he could rape her.

That's one of the most horrific news stories to ever happen in Canada. At the time it was constantly in the news, and it was impossible not to know all the horrible, disgusting details. And even more scary to know she's now married and has kids of her own and living in Quebec, under a new name.

She did what?!?!

Just finished "Death by Didgeridoo" by Barbara Venkataraman! I'm really looking forward to the next three.

"Life just keeps throwing punches at Jamie Quinn, Esq. The hardest punch already happened when Jamie lost her mom not long ago, leaving her with a snarky feline as a memento. Jamie isn’t sure she really adores family law, although she does a good job at it. And now, NOW, her cousin Adam is accused of murder. As bad as that is, for Adam, who has Asperger syndrome, it may well be devastating. Jamie’s aunt is desperate for help, and although criminal law is as foreign to Jamie as Mars is to Earth, how can she say “no?”

It isn’t as if anyone will really miss the victim, a sleazy ex-rocker whom no one really liked at all…but Jamie HAS to help clear Adam’s name, and to do it she will need the “able” assistance of as zany a cast of characters as it has been my pleasure to meet in a good long while!

This book is a wonderful start to a new series. If you are looking for a hard-hitting procedural filled with a scare a minute, keep looking. However, if you what you crave is an interesting, well-developed mystery with unforgettable characters, spritely conversations that are never stilted, and a writing style that can best be described as “lush,” then this book will leave you smiling and wanting more! Rich with detail that never overpowers, this is a little vacation for the mind!

I'm almost finished with Lock Every Door and I don't want it to end but I have Summer of 69 and The Lying Game next up.

Finally finished

Love Saves the Day by Gwen Cooper

And I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure what to expect, and I doubt a non-cat person would like it, but it was a serious story about a family, of which one member was a cat. Chapters were mostly from the point of view of the cat, but sometimes by a human. I'm no good at writing reviews, so won't even try. Hopefully, maybe, Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 will read it, as I'd love to read her review of it.

Now I'm reading something I suspect Mia6 Mia6 would like.

It's on my list, and I'll move it up to the top! I take breaks from my series by reading stand-alones...they "clear my palate," so to speak!
