Oddly, both of my cats have been named Lola.
The first one was named after a character in a book. The Lola I have now was named that by the shelter I got her from.
I also named over 25 feral cats but it'll take a year to list them of and say why I named them what I named them.
So, how did you come up with your cat's name?

Okay so my cats full name is princess Tiabeanie but we mostly just call her Bean. I got the name from a show on Netflix the princess in this show is very much a rebel and it reminds me of my cat but also my cat was the runt of her litter and she’s so small like a bean!

Charlie is named after Charlie Chaplin, whose work I absolutely love. I feel like the name fits-he's "dressed" in black, he's odd in a charming way, and he was initially found wandering around outside.

Selene is named after the ancient Greek personification of the Moon. Her fur seems to encompass every shade of grey, just like the Moon.

Bynx was very difficult to name. He is almost human like with his expressions, and has a facial structure that did not fit many names I could think of. Hes all black with just a spot of white on his chest. Then I thought of Binx in the movie Hocus Pocus, where it was a black cat who was actually a human with a curse and it fit. My husband, for some reason, always spells names wrong so that's why the "Y" instead of "I".

With Chester, we already had that name picked out for the next cat we got that it suited. It was the name that the shelter gave our late Hank. So it was kinda an "homage" to him.

And Lily, needed a pretty, delicate, sweet, name that was just a cute and precious as her.

Sir Eats-A-Lot was named for his perpetual crying to be fed. He was named by a couple of contractors working for me. His appetite isn't what it used to be, but the name remains.

Chesterfield had been named Chester at the shelter. Worked okay for him, but he needed to have a classier name, since his "brother" was a knight of the realm.

Meep was named for the cry she made when she was first found. I started mimicking her and she started responding to it, so that became her name.

When I first brought the cat home my youngest and cutest grand niece was visiting and I had been thinking of a new name for him as his original name was awful and his registered name was longer than the freeway.
I came up with Caesar or Shah for short as he has a real roman nose.
My niece (shes about 2-3 years old..uncles can never remember) was gooing over the cat and I asked her can you say Caesar and it come out "Sheeewah"..tried Shah and it come out sh*t...Blue popped into my head and said ..can you say Blue and she said it perfectly so Blue it was.

Felix - From Purina's UK line of cat food (I think...). It had something to do with a cat food years ago. They made a little virtual cat for windows desktops named Felix. You could do so many things with it. His name was Anna-Bella first but then I realized he was a boy. The name Felix means 'lucky'.

Fayola - A play on Felix. Meaning 'Good fortune'.

My first Cat had long hair and was very fluffy, I was 8 or 9 so "Puff" it was.

My second Cat (my avatar picture) was Eclipse.

Callie, Fresca, and Alana already had names.

I gave my rescues descriptive names

Patch (who I ended up keeping) was missing her right eye. Her Kittens were Pipsqueak, who was rather tiny at first, and Zorro who had a black mask over his (later found out to be her) eyes.

I didn't have time to name one stray because he got shelter placement right away.

Diamond was mostly white, except for his tail and a small patch of fur on his back in the shape of a diamond, which were orange.

Lucky (renamed "Lucifur" at the shelter then later changed to "Luke", possibly because of the nasty look I gave) I found wandering outside in the coldest part of winter, he was thin and had a nasty URI. He looked like he was about ready to give up and was lucky to just be alive at that point.

Our first cat, Velcro (R.I.P.), was a stray that showed up one day, and was such a clinger that his name was a natural.
Our next cat, a feral that we named Burdock, is also a clinger, but we didn't want to re-use Velcro.
The next cat, also a feral, we named Prancer because she always pranced when coming to our back door, with her tail erect like a flag pole.
Next came 3 more ferals that we named Stretch, because of his habit of stretching to full length when coming to eat; Digger, because she would stop and dig behind her ears, and for the size of the holes she dug when doing her business; and Bashful, because she was/is bashful, and was the last to allow us to touch her.
And, last but not least, is Miss Eleanor- another feral TNR. She was named by a neighbor of ours- since passed- so when we brought her inside we kept the name in Marcia's. memory.

Originally I wanted to name Toffee and Fudge Caramel and Butterscotch when I first saw them at the rescue centre, but when we took them home I thought Toffee and Fudge was a better fit for them. They're the exact same colouring as the foodstuffs would be, so I feel the names suit them well, and I'm a sucker for food names on orange cats!

Our very first cat was a stray who "followed our daughter home from the school bus stop." After posting flyers around the neighborhood and putting an ad in the newspaper (this was in the 80's) and not finding an owner, we decided to adopt him. We had a family brainstorm session (my wife, our 3 kids and me) to come up with a name. After numerous suggestions from everyone, we went with the name that our son proposed....Cocoa.

Our next 3 cats came from the SPCA. They were about 8 years old and had been surrendered by an elderly woman who could no longer care for them. Rather than confuse the cats, we continued using the names she had given them: Sadie, Sassy, and PJ.

As far as our current kitties:
Lexi came from the SPCA, and they knew her name was Lexi so we elected to keep it.
Our daughters gave Loki to my wife as a Christmas present. He was 8 weeks old. Right from the beginning he was a bit mischievous. We did some searching on the Internet, and found that Loki was the name of the Norse god of mischief. We had found the perfect name.
After getting down to 2 kitties after the loss of PJ and Sadie, we wanted to adopt a male and female. After researching possible names on the Internet, we decided that their names would be Bonnie and Clyde. My wife and I were doing cat cuddling at the local Humane Society when we found Bonnie and Clyde
