We're defrosting and heating up some pasties that we brought back from The Cornish Pasty Company in Las Vegas a few week ago, and the BF is making mashed potatoes to go along with them, and I might make some red wine gravy. I'm having a Veggie Cottage Pie pasty and he's having a Lamb Vindaloo one. There are a few locations in the Phoenix area and the one in Las Vegas, and they are sooooo good. Great food, good beer, friendly staff at all the locations we've been to. We always get some half baked pasties to go when we're there. Short flight from Phoenix or Vegas back to Long Beach, so it's easy.

You can smell the grill driving past when they actually fire it up. It used to be all the time. Now it's every now and then. Sad. That's the one thing they had over McDonald's for me.
Now that I think about it, I haven't smelled the grill in a long time. Hmmm... :headscratch:

Popeye's is my favorite fast food place.
It is WAY up on my list, as well. I adore their dirty rice. Now, they may CALL it "Cajun rice," but I assure you that any random Cajun would tell you that it is DIRTY RICE. I could eat that stuff by the pint.

Would you believe that I STILL have not managed my darned fish sticks? I'll try again tonight!

Sauteed salmon filets with honey, fried cucumber slices with garlic salt and chives, and apple-peach crumble (the topping with oats) ...maybe that's the crisp. I forget, but Cooks Illustrated just had a blurb describing the different types, from dowdys to slumps to cobblers to sonkers :)

I've never heard of cooking/heating cucumber. Sounds interesting.

my refrigerator died, though the freezer part is still running (for the moment) -- it's at the end of it's average lifespan. so i'm waiting for the new fridge to be delivered. :sigh:
Oh no. Hopefully the freezer part will hang on until your new fridge arrives. :crossfingers:

Last night I had Gardein Chick'n Crispy Tenders with a few fries, and some salad.

Tonight I think I'll make one of my rice and beans recipes.

It's good, my Dad told me he'd had it somewhere in South Dakota a year or so ago, and I put it on the Must-try list lol

I'm sautéing it similar to zucchini. I don't even bother drying out the cuke slices first, and I try to get a little brown on the slices - it's such a nice change plus it helps deal with the bounty of the garden

Tonight will be cod, green beans, roasted carrots per Ina Garten, maybe cottage cheese on the side, and Taste of Home's Chewy Pecan Pie Bars with an addition of chocolate glaze ;)

Burrito, one each. Large flour tortilla heated in dry cast iron frying pan. From tortilla up the fillings were: refried black beans I made for the base layer, seasoned with Goya sazon. Next, homemade venison / pork chili. Then thin sliced red onion, and shredded lettuce for the last bit. Turned in ends, then rolled. Negro Modelo beer to accompany it.

Not bad, if I do say so.
