Has (s)he come in yet? *PRAYERS*!!!Unh! I am out of practice for cat catching. I thought I had retired from this and all my wild kitty gear was put away. If this kitten will not come to me ,then by morning I will get out the traps and all the many things I need to start the process of getting a new kitty. I hope that I will find someone has accidently lost this one. It’s not a tiny baby. I cannot bear the idea that it was dumped but it does seem to be alone. I am hidden on the side of the house to watch it. I prepared a bed next to the door of the cat room since the kitten will not go inside. It wants to be with Lady but I have to let her off the leash to get it to come to her. If I am close the baby runs. I wish I had a catio. I put a large cage by the door and covered it with a blanket. I put blankets from the cat room inside. I used the one that Lady sleeps on. The kitten is wary but investigating. Poor little one was falling asleep sitting up. I think it will go under the blanket on the cage to sleep. I don’t have the feeling that I will get the baby tonight but I’ll wait a bit longer. May it be safe and able to rest tonight. I did get it to eat. Starving.
I have removed everything from the yard that might attract the buzzards. They may still come though. rubysmama The true term is Black Vulture. They are raptors. I put food for them an acre away on top of the trash can. I left the lid on one can propped open to lure them straight there. I hope.
@NY cat man I’m so glad Miss Eleanor is doing well and has found you. It speaks to the love you share with each other. You may credit her but it takes two.
tarasgirl06 It does take working with our total environment to find balance. The opossums are really messy though. The Raccoons like to wash their food too so I used lots of water dishes when I had so many babies outside.
I expect tonight to be a long one. I still have a couple of photos for everyone though. Here they are.
Since the kitties had to leave the cat room while I have the door open, Kodiak found another place to sleep.

Over my lifetime so far, I have had at least one in just about every color and combo I can think of. I didn't pick them for that, though. They picked me in almost every case (maybe because I represent a veritable multicolored variety in the human spectrum? PAWsibly) and those few I "picked" came to me because they needed a loving permanent home, not because of how they look(ed), age, or any other qualification.
Still haven’t been to bed but wanted to check in before I check out. Lol
The baby is doing well. OMGoodness what a sweetheart! All snuggles, purrs and making biscuits in my lap. Baby is eating. No potty yet. No drinking that I have seen but hopefully all will come soon.
I’ll be back!
Yes. I have one in every color. That was hilarious! No, I have not named it. Lol
No way !!!!OMG! Nooooooo! A little orange kitten was at the back door looking in. Trying to get it. It came to Lady but ....
Doesn't sound like a friendly bird you want around the house.I have removed everything from the yard that might attract the buzzards. They may still come though. rubysmama The true term is Black Vulture. They are raptors. I put food for them an acre away on top of the trash can. I left the lid on one can propped open to lure them straight there. I hope.

I can't believe the frog came in the house! Seriously you are an animal, amphibian, bird magnet.Well, okay. Froggie just came in the door so.... maybe you didn’t.
Let’s all hope that Banjo and Whistle didn’t kiss all the frogs. 1,2,3,4,5 !
Congrats on the new place.I got moved. There is more space for the kitties. They can run up and down the stairs. The doctor said they are too fat.
Awww, Miss Eleanor is beautiful. For those who may have missed it, and are wondering to whom we are referring, may I present Miss Eleanor.View attachment 295501

They are always so frightened until you show them love. They relax so much, you can see their walls breaking down. It's a beautiful thing.@NY cat man Miss Eleanor is a beauty. She has a little cousin here!
tarasgirl06 Thank you for the prayers and the link. I haven’t had a chance to read it but you know I will. Cats of any color are all love beneath the fur. My furry friends have all come to me in the same way yours have come to you.
Furballsmom I got tears too. This poor little lost baby was crying at me in the dark. How ???? So precious is that little life! So much for hanging up my cat catching clothes!
Young helpers needed!
surya Very glad to hear your new place is good for all! I hope this will be a place of peace and happiness for you.
Yep! We have another sweetie among us.
Buffster7 It was a surprise for me too! I can tell the baby has starved for a bit. There are lots of little scratches and dirt too. A survival story. I don’t know how it found it’s way here but it was looking in the back door and crying for help. I couldn’t ignore the plea from a baby. You know I told you how the cats here show great caring for other cats? Lady helped me get the baby. At first she greeted it, then swatted it. I was not pleased at the swat but now I realize it was to get the baby to pay attention. Later Lady was the reason the baby ate and allowed itself to be caught. Thank you Lady! I’m glad I gave Lady more time and my trust that she would not hurt the kitten.
And that post about the orange kitty.... hilarious just when I needed a laugh.
Graceful-Lily Thank you. I’ll do all I can for the baby. I may not be the best at cat stuff but my heart is all in.
Avery Thank you. This is the sweetest baby! Melting heart here! I am exhausted. It’s been a busy couple of months and this was unexpected. I hope to sleep long tonight.
white shadow Thanks for the second laugh and, as always, your support.
rubysmama I know! No way! We can’t un see a kitten. Lol
The vulture is not a bad bird, just has it’s place in the world. Right now.....the back of the property! There is a town that celebrates these birds. A hundred years ago they were greatly needed there after hard times hit. We would have a mess without them. If flight they are amazing as they ride the thermal air currents.
Froggie comes in a lot! It’s looking for Banjo! The hummingbird moth came in last night too. I guess the creatures know I won’t hurt them. Froggie will jump right into my hand if I hold it out. As long as the Vultures don’t come in, I’m good!
CL56 The little tangie is a beautie. Great big eyes that remind me of the cat in Shrek.
Thank you to everyone for coming to weigh in about this kitten. At this point I really didn’t expect to be finding more kittens in the middle of the night. The care and support offered here helped me through the night and day. For anyone pushing to keep rescuing, this is where you need to be.
Our smiles tonight come from the new member of Chez catbird. Welcome to a safe haven little one. I’m glad you made it.
It’s okay baby.

Okay. I couldn’t sleep earlier. Headache. Lol Wonder why? It’s gone now and the kitten has had Capstar, flea combing, food, a visit or two to the litter box, rest, a little cleaning up and lots of love. I’m going to take a break and let the others know that I wasn’t ignoring them. I have a paw on my arm now. Then I’m going to sleep!
Have a great night everyone! I hope you all have a rainbow of kitty love
Yes! That’s it exactly. That helps on the hard days doesn’t it? The reward is in their faces. It makes our hearts full. They are always so frightened until you show them love. They relax so much, you can see their walls breaking down. It's a beautiful thing.
