I was scooping out the litter box when KitKat came to use it (because of course). So I just do happened to be right down there as he started to poop. I noticed something looked bright red coming out. The poop itself looked normal, he didn't cry or strain. Whatever the bright red thing was, went back in after he was done.

Is this normal? I'm ready to take him in, but I'm going to feel dumb if it's just part of the process. I feel dumb even asking here. Lol. Thanks in advance!

It’s just his butthole. His poops may be a little too hard or two big. Both can be a fiber problem.

I just came across something called incomplete prolapse and it looks exactly like what I saw. I hope you're right and that it's nothing, but I think I'll take him in just to be safe.

I'm pretty sure that's just how pooping works, lol. It's not like it's a process we usually watch very closely, so as long as nothing seems off when he's done I think he's OK. So don't be too annoyed if the vet seems a little bit amused by the question ;).

Lol, that is the best case scenario for me! I hope she laughs at me and it's nothing. Thanks for your vote of confidence. You've made me think less doomsday-ish!
