These are the recipes I use. Cooked Recipes - Google Drive I make the chicken, turkey and used to make pork, rabbit and beef too. I find it easiest to just make chicken and turkey right now and it is what they all like best. Also here is another thread on home cooked
Cooked Recipes Thread

When I first started I used a premix called EZ Complete Food Fur Life - EZ Homemade raw food for pets!

It was simple to use and my cats liked it. But it got expensive quick. I then switched to buying my own supplements and ordering meat from Hare Today or Raw Feed Miami. It takes work, but I would usually make food every 4-6 weeks. Now it's more like 6-8 weeks.

Hi! Ahh, thanks so much for the sweet post! Every one of you has been so kind and full of helpful ideas and encouragement - Finn says thank you!! He's doing as well as he is thanks to you guys. I didn't think I was going to last through the biting!

These are the recipes I use.
Wow, there are some good recipes there. Thank you bunches! I would probably need a food processor since Charlie won't eat anything but pate. I'm a skeptic and suspicious of most pet food companies and would prefer to make my own food so I know exactly what's in it. I'll be saving these recipes - thank you again!

I love the idea of making your own cat food. I have had some discussions with pet food companies. I was making food for mine during a transitional period. To do it all the time for this crew, I’d need a Cat Ferteria! I always prefer as many natural profucts as possible but at this point, home made food is the exception. I do it for any who are ill or as a treat. If you can do it, it’s great!

Oh goodness, I can't imagine making food for 35 cats!! When I used to make food for my dog, I would make it in advance and then freeze it and thaw out enough for a work week. Even frozen-then-thawed tasted better to her than canned. But it was a lot of work for one dog...35 felines? Can you imagine the space the ingredients alone would take!

Just left Finn's room. I usually put a little kibble in his bowl before I leave to get him through the night and to distract him so I can exit. Tonight he was on my heels and had his head through the baby gate before I could close it. I was stuck between the baby gate and the "cage" I have standing up around it. Charlie was on the other side of the cage. They got nose-to-nose for a brief second before I could get Finn back in the gate with my foot (if I bent over, my backside would have pushed the cage over). Total curiosity from Finn and Charlie, one hiss from Charlie. Not sure if it was because he sensed my stress and saw me pushing Finn back with my foot, or just a hiss for good measure. I would normally feel very pleased with how well that went except I'm concerned about them getting that close when I don't know that Finn is in the clear from URI yet. :cringe:

They weren’t close long enough to worry.
OMW PHEW. Literally just sighed a big sigh of relief when I read that. This has been my #1 concern from the minute I started this.

Acutally, my numbers are lower thanks to wonderful adopting families. Still working on it. I would suggest you have 3 kitties but.....:flail:I won’t do that to Charlie. Or you!
My friends have threatened an intervention should I even think about another. They say this is how it starts...;)

Hi! I admittedly haven't read this entire thread and so I apologize if I'm duplicating information. Just in case you're not familiar, the general rule is 20 to 25 calories per pound of ideal body weight daily.

Every cat is different of course :)

How Much Food Should I Feed My Cat?

Choosing The Right Food For Your Cat - Part 2

Transitioning Your Cat From Kibble To A New Type Of Food (canned, Raw, Or Homemade)
Interesting! So if his goal weight should be 15 lbs x 20 calories, that's 300 calories per day. Now to research how many calories are in the brands I feed him. Thank you for the link, Furballsmom Furballsmom !

:flail: Yeah! I know. I should mention that I have acres and lots of house. Actually started out using the second homesite on the property when the numbers were higher. I started these rescues because the cats were being abused and killed by humans. I never imagined I would be taking on so many. In this case it was do or they die. It was done in stages though. As some got adopted, others were rescued. I did have a limit set to have in my home. At the final adoption , 77 got adopted over a two year period. More actually but a few were failed adoptions due to people losing a lease or other similar reasons. I think the total was actually 81. Three or four more were re adopted bringing the number of wonderful families up to about 84 or 5 It was a stressful two years. You should see the records I have to keep!

The snuggle photo is purrfection!
Under the bed? Awwwww. It’s okay Finn! Watch were you stick your nose! Finn, this is why we introduce slowly.lol
That’s actually good. He just learned not to rush out. He’ll get the hang of things.

Today is day 12 of Finn being here, and Day 10 (final day) of antibiotics. When do you (anyone who has insight) think it will be safe to begin scent-swapping?
