Jumbo, who I've talked about previously, has an infection in her kidney. She may die. We don't know what's more likely - if she'll live or die. I'm crying, worried. She is only two years old, and I love her so much! She's always been the healthy one, and now she may die.

:( i am sorry jumbo is ill, she looks beautiful *pats jumbo gently on her little head* Is she geting any antibiotics to kill the infection in her kidneys ?

I am sending prayers your way. I pray that god and all his angels in heaven will make Jumbo strong to fight this kidney infection and to guide you to get more assistance to help jumbo get better. I am sorry that Jumbo is very ill, but i have faith in god that he will make jumbo healthy again. God bless jumbo and you and cat vivid i hope you both pull through this. :heartshape::grouphug::bluecat:

I found this information for you regarding treatment for kidney infection i hope this give you a few ideas and direction to assist Jumbo :
Treatment of kidney bacterial infection in your cat usually requires a long term antibiotic regime for four to six weeks. If you cat has become dehydrated, IV fluids may be required. Surgery may be required is there is an obstruction in the urinary tract. If your cat has kidney stones, they may need to be surgically removed or dissolved through shockwave treatments. Kidney stones can sometimes be alleviated through diet

Unless she was already dying from the infection she should recover as long as she's getting antibiotics. Spend as much time as you can with her as it will help keep her calm and reassure her, right now you are her support mechanism. Even if you just lay down near her and take a nap it will help, talking to her is also good.

I might have missed the thread where you discuss this problem.
Have the vets found out what the issue is? It seems so, because the vets gave her antibiotics.
Can you please tell me/us more about this?

I think the OP posted about it on this thread
Accidentally Stepped On My Cat :(

Hope your girl recovers, she is very pretty.
Alright, thanks!
But is the infection related to the stepping on her? Or is it just a coincidence?
If it's a consequence, is it possible that there's a damage done to some inner part? Did the vet run an ultrasound scan/x-ray to see what happened?

The vet hasn't said that it had anything to do with me stepping on her. He suspects it's because of a fight with another cat, because she's mostly outdoors.

Did you find any evidence of a fight on her body? A scratch? A bite?
I'd expect to see an infection in the injured area as well.
From experience, kidney infections can be long to solve, but if you are consistent with the therapies and you keep her controlled and safe, you should overcome it.

No, we haven't found any evidence, but we told the vet about me stepping on her, but he didn't say that that could be the reason. I really hope it's not.

In my humble opinion, the approach of your vet is too soft. Given what you told him, he should check your cat more thoroughly, and if he isn't able or isn't equipped to do so, he shoud refer you to another vet.
Or you should go to another vet and tell them the whole story. In the worst case you will have a second opinion, at least.

She got some food from the vet, and she's happily eating it, even though she refused to eat before. That's a good sign, right?

Did she ever get an x-ray after you stepped on her? How long has she been on the antibiotics? Is she eating and drinking? Did the vet do a culture to make sure the antibiotic is effective on the infection? Colloidal Silver given with antibiotics increases the effectiveness of the antibiotics. You could start her on Colloidal Silver. I recommend Utopiasilver.com. It's a quality company and they have the best prices for colloidal silver. If she's amenable, you can even put a capful in her water bowl.

What exactly was the diagnosis given by your vet? What type of infection does she have. Did he give her blood tests, how comprehensive was his exam on your kitty?

I'm not exactly sure about everything here. I'm just a kid going to the vet with Jumbo and my dad. He did take blood tests, I know that.

It would be much better for her if you kept her inside, it's actually rather dangerous to let small animals roam around on their own. Predators, parasites, cars, and even other Cats deciding they want to be territorial can harm her.

She may be upset at first since she's used to being outside, but she will get used to being in the house all the time and will end up being happier since she won't have to deal with things like weather.
