Looking For A Fish Forum Site

My son is heavy into fish keeping. The problem is, he has no one to talk to that cares or ask questions to. He has gone on a couple of fish forums sites, but it's usually their way or the highway. For instance, someone asked a question about the care of a certain fish. Everyone came down on this person and actually said "If you need to ask questions, you don't need this fish". Really?
So what I'm wondering, is if any one here knows of a forum that is like this one (except for fish). No judgement, no 'I'm better than you', just friendly people who have and like fish.

I am sure there is one, but finding it might be challenging. You might want to check with an exotic fish store (doesn't have to be local) and ask the employees if they know of one.

I had him look at it and he is going to observe some of the posts. From what little he saw, these people seem well educated and pleasant. Thank you.

Yea, fish forums can be rough. Have you looked at fishlore.com or tropicalfishkeeping.com? I can't recommend monsterfishkeepers.com because many of the threads I've read have incredibly rude responses. There's also planted tank forums that also have sections for fish in general. Two I know of are plantedtank.net and aquaticplantcentral.com. There's also a lot of species-specific forums that generally have sections for asking about other types as well. Bettafish.com and planetcatfish.com are the ones I've used the most. I haven't been on the betta fish forum in like a year though so I can't guarantee it's as friendly as it used to be.

When it comes to researching fish species (having a fair amount of information does help with getting kinder responses) seriouslyfish.com and aqadvisor.com are pretty helpful.

I'll have him look at those. I'm not sure which ones he's looked at, but I know he asked a question (it let you as a guest) about the care of Nudibranchs and was told that he shouldn't keep them, they should be free. It's a slug. It only has two things in life. Eating and procreation. I'm fairly certain a Nudibranch doesn't have the consciousness to know or care if it's free.
That's why I love this site. If someone asks a question or does something that we don't agree with, we try to educate. No judgements. Even the miniature horse site I used to belong to got pretty stinking nasty.

Since you mentioned Nudibranch, I am feeling like he has saltwater tank? If so:

I belong to several saltwater forums and found no issues with them. of course there's some odd rude people that are bound to happen on any site you go on.

If it is indeed saltwater tank, I'd say all nudibranches are bad. Acro-eating nudibrand or Zoanthid-eating nudibranches- they are all pests and will destroy corals.

Aptaisia eating nudi's are probably the only ones I'd keep, lol. But they don't last long. once aptasia's gone, they starve.

Nudis don't have much brains but they are incredibly specialized feeders so fairly impossible to keep in captivity. Reefcentral used to be a good one for saltwater ime but it's been years since I've been on a fish forum.
