Hi there,
I've got a girl that was possibly bred 4 to 5 weeks ago. I say possibly because my male is still fairly young and when he was trying to get the deed done he was never able to connect correctly. Since then she has had nausea, had a behavior change and gained weight in the abdomen. I'd say she is pregnant except her nipples haven't changed AT ALL. Has anyone had a pregnant girl whose nipples didn't change until later in the pregnancy or is this a false pregnancy? Thanks for the help!

She might be pregnant (sometimes girls do not visibly "pink up"). Or she might be having a false/hormonal "pregnancy" (where she ovulated but didn't get pregnant); this can appear very similar to a pregnancy. Or she might have become pregnant but then had early pregnancy loss and reabsorbed the fetal material. If you really want to know, the best method of pregnancy diagnosis at this stage would be ultrasound.

I kind of figured. I'll probably give it another week and then take her in. I appreciate the reply ;)

The question is, if you DO to want the litter. If you dont want, [you just didnt spayed / neutered in time], you can still easily spay NOW. At this time a spaying is no big deal medically, and not so much ethically either, compared with late spay-abortions...

I do want the litter, I have ESH cats and am hoping to have a few litters with each of my girls. The problem is my inexperienced male is struggling to get the deed done which is why I was surprised she was showing signs of pregnancy. I'm almost 99% it's a false pregnancy now, guess it was wishful thinking. Thanks for the advise tho.

Do you have a breeding mentor that can help advise you? Where did you get your cats? Often the breeder you purchased from can help.
