hello, I’m new here. I came on here for some help wondering if my cats incision is infected or opened. He bit at it twice and kept licking it. So I got him a e-collar. I really just need to know if he looks okay & so I don’t stress to much. Thanks for your help & advice.

Hi again! How are things going today?
He is doing great. Hates the cone, but the incision looks like it closed up. They said it the tattoo they put on it to I’d identify them. The vet said to keep the cone on for 7 days & to monitor it afterwards & to use peroxide if I need to clean it. If there’s green pus or looks abnormal to take him to the vet. :) thanks for you’re concerns & help everyone

Thanks so much for the update :) :vibes::sunshine:
Very welcome I’m just glad he’s okay. Vet said everything is good. This is my first redo with cats so I just wanted to make sure I was doing things right & I found this wonderful site to help me! Thanks again.
That’s my baby boy Nero. He’s eating & having difficult drinking the water & knocking it over, but I take the cone off for that & put it back on when I’m not watching him. :)

Since the cone is to keep him from reaching that part, be sure to help him clean up after he goes to the box. damp paper towel or toilet paper should do it.

No one seems to, which makes it strange that vet hardly ever mention it.

Mhmm yeah I wonder Why they didn’t. They also said they didn’t recommend me using a cone for them, cause they won’t lick themselves. But cats always groom themselves. So once he started licking his feet’s, he started licking the spot so I rushed to go get him a cone so he would stop. I mean idk why they said that. But then when I called they said keep it on for 7 days?

I think it may be fairly rare for a male cat to attack his neuter stitches. We've had several males neutered and once they walked off the anesthesia they didn't seem to notice anything had happened. It might have just felt like getting kicked in a fight. The vet never gave us cones for any of our 28 cats male or female. Only one had a go at her stitches and she ended up with a bandage wrap. It all depends on the individual cat.

Oh I see. Yeah he wouldn’t stop licking it and so I had no other choice to put it on. His sister got it done yesterday too. Didn’t seem to bother it for a while but then she started to lick it too so I had to put one on her as well just in case. I’d rather be safe than sorry

You did the right thing. Every cat is a surprise to keep you on your toes. You'll get a bit of a breather if they copy each other. Just buy two of every thing when the first one does something.

Thank you. That’s a good rule. I try to do that already but I’m glad I got both. Cause you never know. Thank you again for your advice & help :)

Hello everyone, it’s been a few days. I have an update and question, my boy is doing well with the cone & the incision looks like it’s healing well. My concern/ question today is that I looked in the litter box after he peed to make sure wasn’t bleeding maybe? But he wasn’t. When he finished it was white & foaming? It’s the first time I’ve seen that? Does anyone know if that’s normal after neutering?

Where do you think?
Some times my cats urine is foamy, as long as it isn't discoloured (pinkish or red) and he is going I wouldn't worry about it.
