Hello all.

I have two cats. Male and Female both of the same litter. They are 1 year old and the problem is with the male cat. He is always fed on time, he gets to play, he is not scolded or hit. But he meows and yowls very very much. I don't know what is the problem with him. He throws anything on the counter so kitchen door has to be kept closed. And he yowls at the closer doors non stop.

Are they both spayed and neutered? He is of the age where he wants to mate, and his sister is right there.... Hope they are. If not separate them immediately, assume she is pregnant, and work on getting them fixed. He may just be howling to get outside, get to females, etc.

If he is neutered, he could just be a vocal guy. Trying to get your attention. Any attention is still attention so if you interact with him at all when he does this he will keep doing it. Perhaps he is bored and needs some stimulation around the house? Interactive cat toys?

Both my cats are not spayed or neutered unfortunately. I took their mother in when she one day appeared at my doorstep pregnant. She passed away in March this year and I have been taking care of both of them. It's my first time having cats and I've learned a lot. But this behaviour of his is out of my control.

I have cat toys that I okay with them with. I don't have any toy that they can play with themselves.

And unfortunately both cats have already mated. I'm pretty sure it happened when I was either at university or sleeping...

The female is very obedient and quiet. She rarely meows when I'm giving food. But the male, recently started yowling very very loudly. He would continuously yowl for 1 - 2 hours.

I play with him until he is tired and panting, if I stop because I got tired lol ... he just goes back to meowing excessively. Oh and one more thing, he doesn't sleep more than 4 hours here and there.

Since you have a male and female and haven't mentioned kittens I'll guess he's neutered. If not that would help. Cats aren't fully adult until 18-24mts. So he's still in the annoying teenage stage. Some cats are more vocal than others.

If you've been to the vet and ruled out anything physical it sounds like he's high energy and mentally bored. Have 2 or 3 heavy play sessions with him a day. Chasing something like Da Bird until he is breathing a little heavy. In between try teaching him to fetch. Get/make some puzzle toys. Yoshi was obsessed with foil balls so we used those in the puzzles. If your area is safe enough harness train him and go for walks. I'd like to tell you that he will be calmer at 2yrs but Yoshi did have adult type energy until 8yrs. He also enjoys hide and seek and when I got really desperate I put him on my shoulders and let him "climb the wall"

That's alright thank you. I've found a place and yes cost is an issue at the moment as I'm just a university student. But I'm saving for it and hopefully I'll get him neutered.

He will be better after neutering. And if you say they already mated, it means your female is already pregnant, and I’m sure you can’t afford it if you can’t afford the neutering/ spaying. She can be still spayed at this time though and I’d do this as soon as you can, you can do it for really minimal cost.
