So Joey is off the kitty prozac now and I have been working with him for his aggression, one thing, when I go to leave in the morning, he either doesn’t want me to leave or he wants to go in the garage, I can’t let him in the garage when I leave as I have to go to work, plus it gets hot later in the day and I don’t want to leave the door to the garage open. I go to leave and he’s right there at the door, so I have to get him away from the door. I use treats or his wand toy, but I feel bad about using the wand toy because I get him away with the toy and leave, that’s kind of rude I guess.

The other night I wouldn’t let him in the garage as it was too hot to leave the door open, (I usually will leave it open at night for him). He attacked my leg pretty bad, lots of blood!

I don’t have any expectations for a solution but he attacks the back of my leg when I go to leave, I have recently been scruffing him and just started the hissing at him and turning my back (today was 1st day for the hissing) I think it’s starting to work. as I see a change in him when I go to scruff him, weird he doesn’t attack when I do it but seems a bit humble, when he gets in trouble, he immediately will roll on his back and roll back and forth, it’s really weird like he knows he was bad.

Anybody have any ideas? I’m going to take him to the vet soon and discuss this with the vet, I’m getting really tired of this!

If it wasn’t for Joey the “friendly” cat Walli wouldn’t have to be cooped up in her room/catio.

He does seem to be mellowing towards Walli and is pretty calm by her door.
I can’t trust him yet tho, The other night I got so angry and scruffed him in anger which I know is wrong, couldn’t sleep after that, I felt like getting rid of him, but nobody would want him, So the next day I calmed down and decided to work harder (sigh) I have already brought in a behaviorist, she put him on meds and pretty much didn’t discuss his aggression too much. I will not give him the kitty prozac or any other psycho drugs.

Have you thought about CBD for Joey? Since he is now off the Prozac, he might need something to help. I have been using PhytoMaxx with Cisco since I took him off the Prozac. He is doing really well on it. I am going to switch him though to one from Charlotte's Web. I have heard from some others on the FB Feline Lower Urinary Tract Group that some cats who have been on Prozac have transitioned nicely to CBD. Most use the Charlotte's Web version ( Full Strength on Olive oil). This is all hemp based.

My other cat, Shadow has been on Prozac now for almost 10 months for urinary spraying. I am in the process of weaning him off and will transition him to CBD. If it doesn't work, then back to Prozac.

Oh Yeah with so much info needed lately I forgot, my husband reminded me the other day, I will go to the dispensary Saturday and get it.
Thanks for reminding me! If he doesn't shape up I will get him the THC! (kidding)

Yeah, I can handle it, I'm pretty strong.
Had to keep an eye on it tho!
He doesn't know any better yet! I have to play with him more, I feel too old for a cat like this! When my grandkids were here they wore him out!

Have you tried throwing a catnip toy, then when Joey runs to get it, you open the door and leave? We used to use a bicycle horn and a pig dog toy that oinks to keep the cats back from the doors. But we don't have to do that much anymore.

I also think at this point I wouldn't let him in the garage. It's just too risky. He doesn't understand when he can and can't go into the garage. I would think there are too many dangerous things in a garage for him. Also the garage is just one step away from the outside. You don't want him accidentally getting outside.

maggiedemi, I haven't tried throwing a toy! duh!
instead of the wand toy!

that's a good point of not letting him out at all.
what he does is looks out the vents in the garage, not sure why
maybe he has seen the ferals through there?
were in the middle of a heat wave right now, so I really don't want him out there, thanks!

Thanks Rubysmama! I'm ok! He's a punk!!
He is sweet sometimes tho, especially when I come home.

I wonder if he sees or smells the ferals? Maybe they spray or urinate near the vents. This could really agitate him. I would just divert him away from the garage with a special toy and special treat.

These kitties and all of their antics!

Thanks! He needs to be with Walli anyway, going to expose the door from the living room more, his view is blocked on that side. I will wait to get some CBD in him tho.
Everyone here is lifeline! Thanks everybody!!

Joey seems to be doing pretty well on the CBD, not sure yet but I think it's working. He has a vet appt tomorrow, I know this sounds bad but were going to discus getting his canines ground down so their not sharp.
He bit my husband again and he got so mad, he wanted to put Joey down. Well we had an argument, things are ok now, I figured out Joey was looking out the front door at the Ferals eating breakfast when my husband tried to pick him up, It was time for his CBD which he is really good at taking medicine, I'm pretty sure now he wanted to watch the ferals, so as always, mistakes are made.
I will update about Joeys canines, My vet is really old school so she may not do it, if so I will have to find someone else to do it.

just fyi: my husband spent 4 days in the hospital from a Joey bite.
That was after the Joey/Walli fight tho, this one wasn't really so bad.
I think the hissing/scruffing is working

I wish your husband a speedy recovery and hold no grudge against Joey and glad to hear things are ok with you both now.

Yes, I guess you are right about picking Joey up when the other cats are outside. It looks like a redirected aggression to me. Best is to leave Joey alone when he sees other cats.
